Hazelwood Central defeated a good Belleville West tonight. A good Vashon defeated Vianney 54-46.

Belleville West has one of the top freshman in the St. Louis area in 6'6" EJ Liddell. You will hear more about EJ as his career continues. Hazelwood Central has lots of good talent with 6'6" SeniorXavier Sneed leading the way.

Vianney was playing without their top guard 6'3" Zack Colletta. Carte'are Gordon thinks he's a guard but is needed more in the paint for Vianney to win big this year. Rumor has C. Gordon being hustled by a top " Prep High School " down south.

Vashon has a lot of young talent and is very well coached and knows how to win. Dwayne Polk the former Vashon star is the head coach while Tony Irons is on suspension for the first 5 games this season. Tony is the head coach during practice and will take over full time duties next week. Dwayne Polk will make someone a fine head coach if he would ever leaves Vashon.

I got to see a Borgia fan, Swishmeyer, Dennis Kruse, others and the entire Vianney coaching staff who collectively maybe one of the top staffs in the St. Louis area. I talked with former Vashon head Coach Floyd Irons for a few minutes. I was happy to see he is doing alright. He told me how happy he was to have been a high school coach but now he is a big Vashon fan.

The Chaminade players and coaches were there scouting both Vashon and Vianney. Chaminade will play high rated " Oak Hill Academy " on Thursday evening @ 6:30. The game will be on ESPN'S high school game of the week.

If Irons is suspended how does he get to be the head coach for practice?

Why is Irons suspended and who suspended him?

3R and oldround, Tony was suspended the first 4 or 5 games this year for something he did last basketball season. Tony Irons can practice his team but can not coach in games. This information was given to me by one of students helpers on the Vashon bench however it was common knowledge with the Vashon fans. I'm not sure who gave out the suspension ( The MSHAA or the St. Louis Public school district ) Keep an eye on Vashon, I believe the Woverines will be in the St. Louis area and Missouri's high school ranking for years to come. As stated before Vashon appears to be one of our better discipline teams and that's not good for class 4 opponents.

Hazelwood Central has won the Vianney Tournament 9 out of the last 11 years and may win it again. The Vashon-Hazelwood Central game is a toss up by most of the people I've talk with but I'll go with Vashon because of their discipline.
