As fryer drove in two huge runs while Pena looks fatter by the minute.

I'm trying to figure why they signed Pena at all and I sure don't know why they kept him and let Fryer go.

They gave Pena a two year deal so even though they probably realized fryer was a better player.......

And now Pena is down again and we have another career minor leaguer to back up Yadi.

Hard to keep your knees healthy when they're supporting 300lbs of pure flab in a squatting position. That dude is awful. Fryer is young, athletic, and durable. Pena is fat and a horrible receiver of the baseball. Mind-boggling. Should've DFA'd his fat a$$ and eaten the small contract. Not that much in the grand scheme.

Fryer is nearly 31, he's not young. He is who he is - a AAAA player who has all of 46 plate appearances this year

Sorry, exclude young. And I don't disagree, he's nothing special. But at least he's not a fat POS that can't receive a pitch as a catcher. And he can crouch for more than 20 innings without his knees swelling from supporting all of the fat.

On top of that, he signed a two year deal and now has decided it's his life long dream to become a soldier at 34 years old.

THAT IS AMAZING! I had missed that. Thank you for pointing it out.
He has back tracked from that and is now going to do ambassador work instead of joining the reserves. Now don't make me get on this thread again until the Birds get to 10 over.

Oh c'mon vb they won today, Waino pitched well and Grichuk and Piscotty hit HR's. What happened to all the happiness we would have if we only had some HR's hitters. We have lots of HR's from various people and we're not exactly settin the world on fire in win column.

I say the Birds let him out of the contract and allow him to serve. If I'm him though, might reconsider. With all that body mass, he's a big target!

Seriously though, very honorable if he wants to serve. That's a cool thing for someone with a big pocketbook, if he truly wants to do it.

Sometimes I struggle to express myself . This dude is just my Tino Martinez/Ty Wiggington for the season. Was really excited about the signing. Then I saw him play about two innings. My excitement quickly turned to venom.

The offense is wildly inconsistent. But they're scoring runs. Point to starting pitching early, and bullpen lately, when looking for reasons this team hasn't won. They get last years starting pitching, they're at very worst nipping at the heels of the NL All-Star team, er I mean Cubbies.

I saw some of the pregame interview with the catcher they just brought up then saw him in the dugout with a cast on his hand. What's up with that?
