Coach
I dont know what you want me to say... Most coaches would love to have a physical corner for a change. Isnt that where most teams are stuck putting athletes that dont like to be physical? Shoot!! so i am out there laying hat to anything that moves and one week you teach me to play a certain way... one Friday out of the season. One Friday night of my entire HS career you want me to play a different way??!!? I remember telling Lisa, my GF, that if I laid out that Walnut Heights RB one time, just once, i would be able to write my own ticket to any college I wanted to go. I knew how in demand physical corners were.
But here comes a coach with a great game plan and a really innovative Defense with the 6-2 stack, and you want me to change the way I had played my entire life??? Change how i played the entire time i had played for you?
You were right, One time i played how you wanted and it worked. But when it became nut crunching time i instinctively reverted back to the way i always played for you (i didnt do it on purpose, and just reacted)... 1 game you cant let got of a PI.
I knew a really great DB coach that would rarely ever get on to and get mad at a DB for getting a PI for trying to be more physical... Now stupid PI's is a whole different story... but a good physical move trying to make a play, he would have my back, no yelling would come from him. I hear he is a DC now, and i am not surprised by that. I am not trying to tell you how to Coach, but we are entering that ground again where you think you are GOD and you think there is only one way to coach and play football. We have had this talk before, but let me remind you, you are not God, Nickerson, you are/were just a typing teaching.
