CJ's is a joke! A less than Basketball gym sized room with green carpet does not count as an indoor practice facility. Why they would put green carpet and not field turf is beyond me. 30 yards wall to wall and only goes from far hash to sideline.
The ole hometown's property taxes are astronomical (way higher than JoCo KS) so yeah why not?

The News-Leader article mentioned it wouldn't be at Kickapoo, even though they've got a large piece of land by their baseball field. Parkview also has a large piece of land next to the gym. The article says SPS is looking for a "centrally located" area for the facility. I think scheduling five schools to use it will be a bigger issue than where it's built.

Kind of like sharing the field at JFK. That was the district field. Trying to share one indoor facility between 5 high schools plus whatever amount middle schools. That's a joke. Sounds like they need another Coke, Pepsi contract.

The problem is that there's no room for such a facility at Central and Glendale. That spells a Title IX lawsuit right there. Heck, I'd file it myself. Also, they don't have (and probably never will have) enough money to build $7-$10 facilities at each of the five high schools. That would take Bond money, and they appear to want to use money from the annual capital funds budget.
I checked out Google Earth yesterday, and it seems Parkview is the most likely location as it'll work for four out of the five schools. There's land directly west of the gym and to the southeast of the gym. But I don't know all the land SPS owns or could buy for the project.
