Surely, it's fate

He can still swing it, for a decent bat off the bench. That's about it

And I mean....he wasn't wrong with what he said. Arrieta makes Lester look like the greatest pitcher ever at holding runners on base. But, you just can't say what he said to the press

Literally looking at the stats. Has 1 CS and 31 allowed
I'd say the frustration on the Cubs is building and now they've lost a big gun with an ankle injury. They know they should be running away with this division but here we are near the end of June and the Brewers are still at the top. As bad as the Cardinals have been they started the day only 3 1/2 games out.

Good to remember this occasionally. Birds could easily be the Giants. Man, they are awful! Or the Braves. All of that offense and defense, and I think one of us might be able to get a start in their rotation. Holy smokes, their SP is just brutal.

So why are the Cubs this bad? Everybody complains about the Cardinals being bad but they are hanging around with the teams in THIS division. Keep it that way and jump up and bite em in September and you're in the playoffs. We all know anything can happen if you just get there because we've seen them do it. We've also seen the team that won 100+ get their brains beat out in the WS. I'm not predicting they will do this but they are far from being out of it half way through the season.

Biggest thing, to me, is the starting pitching falling off a cliff - all four of Lester, Hendricks, Lackey, and Arrieta are not the same guys they were last year

Outfield hasn't been great, either - Schwarber in the minors, Zobrist missing games, J Hey still looking like bad J Hey, Soler is gone, etc.

Injuries and pitching

Heyward is running into massive bad luck. His medium and hard contact rates have gone up, while soft has gone down. His BABIP has not moved from last year.

No, but he spiked his pull rate, coupled with a spike in hard contact....now to just find some grass to land it on

The one I want back is Castro. He is back to 2011/14 Castro, with more power. Granted, having a short fence helps too.

Heyward still hasn't figured out how to become a flyball hitter in the era of HR
Yeah when your little lefty hitting utility player comes up with the longest HR in all of baseball, when he hit it, there is something going on with the ball. Everybody should try to get it in the air these days.
