Breaking: In a blow to gun industry, the Supreme Court won’t stop a lawsuit brought by Sandy Hook victims’ families against Remington Arms, the manufacturer of the semi-automatic rifle used in the crime. The Court decided not to take up an appeal by Remington.

That entire case is without merit

The families sued the makers of the gun that was used, an AR-15 style weapon made by Remington, in 2014, alleging that the company's marketing of the weapon inspired Adam Lanza to commit the massacre.

They better be able to prove that Adam Lanza saw Remington Advertising in the first place,,,then if they can Prove that point they have to prove that marketing inspired him to go shoot up a school full of children.

I doubt Lanza has ever seen an advertisement for any kind of guns much less that specific weapon

Not going to happen. Too bad people in schools aren’t smart enough to keep doors closed and locked . 20 children would probably be alive today

I assume if the SC thought it had no merit they would have shot it down right there. Why would you think Lanza didn't research what kind of weapon he wanted to use. I don't recall them saying he did that on the spur of the moment but I've slept since then so I don't know.

Because he didn’t even buy the gun his mother did.

Advertising that might have influenced her to buy the gun (even if she saw it)
Would probably be irrelevant if another person took the gun from the home and used it.

Most ladies who know little about guns walk into a store and go up to the counter and just ask the guy for help. Probably be a very hard case to win.

Given how SCOTUS works, it is quite plausible that they opined narrowly on standing.

Yea they basically said since their children were harmed by the gun that the parents had standing and should be allowed to bring their case.

Going to be a tough case, by extension Tesla marketing material emphasizes how fast the electric car will accelerate. Someone dies in a car crash involving a Tesla they also will be liable if you can show their advertising the fact influenced the driver to buy the car

Big can of worms

That's nearly every car made.

Exactly the point. Every car crash that can be traced back to speeding can open the manufacture up to litigation if they use vehicle performance in their marketing material
