First of all, let me congratulate Lutheran North on a great season!!! You did what you thought you needed to do, upgraded your schedule and played top notch out of town teams. Now you need to look at your offense and continue working on your passing game, but Blair Oaks was a better team yesterday and they had your number. No shame in losing to a program like that. I still think you are the 2nd best small school team in St. Louis behind Trinity.
For you MoSports posters who always point out West vs East crap, the STL side has set a record for six teams in the finals and could equal the KC side’s record of winning four titles. So let’s end the supremacy of which side of the state is better, it goes in cycles. And I know you like to harp on the private schools for recruiting, but there has been a phenomenon going on in the STL for a while is where kids move into districts or situations to play for certain programs either via the desegregation program of the 80’s and 90’s, Section 8 apartments or living with relatives. It happens in all sports. It just in the last few years the privates schools have caught on and have been heavily getting students to attend their schools which by some strange coincidence these kids can also play sports. It also happens where the public schools seem to get certain players to attend their schools for other sports. So I do not want to hear about the recruiting issue because it happens and yes it happens at schools like Webb City and Lamar, not accusing the coaches or staffs at those schools of doing any of it, but I am sure there are parents out there who move to those districts just to play in those programs. Winning programs and success brings kids to those schools.
Now on to my final game analysis.
Class 6- Congrats to the CBC Cadets on a fine season. Going to miss Coach Severino, a class act. CBC is on another level than the rest of the Missouri teams. Not sure how much better they can get.
Class 5- Vianney gets better each week. I will take them by 14 over Fort Osage in the finals. Kyren Williams will be a nice addition to Notre Dame next year.
Class 4- I appreciate the run MICDS has been on, but Ladue is a better team. Ladue will run away with this one. Ladue line play is superior to what MICDS has to offer and Coach Tarpey is smelling his first title. Ladue by four touchdowns, but Bundy will make some plays in the game that will make you say “Wow”
Class 3- Cardinal Ritter has surprised me with the big win this last weekend, they have been wanting Trinity all year. They have had an easy road in the playoffs. Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for. Trinity will win this game in a blow out. These kids are wanting to revenge the losses of the last three years, and like Ladue, the superior play on both sides of the ball will be the difference.
Class 2- Blair Oaks wins by a Turbo Clock. What they did to Lutheran North was impressive. They would give a lot of other State Finalist issues with their offense, it is so precise on how they run it.
Class 1- Hayti by a Turbo Clock.
I will have my final STL area rankings next week and also my Final State Rankings next week for you guys. Been a great season here in the STL!!!!
