Why is Kansas City seemingly so much better than St. Louis?

There are tons of stimulating things to do in KC, it's clean(er) than StL.

I'll be honest, it seems (and maybe I'm mistaken) that the only thing St Louis has that is superior is the Zoo.

Why is this?

What can St. Louis do to either close the gap or surpass the KC area?

I've never thought KC was superior. Different, yes. Superior, no. St Louis is older and bigger but also seems to have more history, the Mississippi river, and A HOCKEY TEAM!

I was raised in KC area. St. Louis is cool. So much to do. Arch, Brewery, Cemetery tours, Old courthouse ( can't remember the name of it), Downtown Ball Park , many more bars and restaurants. St. Louis is not Chicago, New York or N'roleans but it's much more eclectic than KC. KC consists of 18 square blocks of KU fans. St Louis is a real city. I love KC, but if I'm tourist, there's no comparison.
Here's the real difference. A stupid not so good friend of mine got drunk and pissed on Stan Musials statue. A St. Louis native would be offended, probably punch him, hell I was offended. But in KC you'd have to piss on a big shuttlecock, and nobody would know, and if they did, they'd think you lived in Westport.

You need to go to places other than Downtown STL is a big part of it. Stay at the Cheshire and spend more time in that area. Go see the rivers up at Sioux Passage Park. Etc.
