State with smallest % transgender population in USA

I’m not belittling anyone. But with a transgender population in Missouri of 1/10 of one percent, you have to admit there has been a drastic amount of unnecessary anguish. And just MAYBE our legislature has other more pressing issues they could address.

That question can go both ways... if it is so small then why also is the left so worried about it?
Because, where does it stop? First it’s sports. What comes next? These kids are human beings. They have problems. The GOP always uses the “slippery slope” arguments with gun laws. Same here.

So let me ask, what else are you worried about being lost? honest question?

And you brought up slippery slope so just a question and me thinking out loud, were do you see the line being drawn in the sand and saying yeah that is just to far! You can be worried about what comes next but others having worries to what this might lead to are nut jobs.
Do you think it's to far fetched that one day a pedophile might try justifying thier actions by saying they identify as an 16 year old? because I think of all the logic that is being used about letting a man just says hey I am woman and you and others go yep he looks like a man but says he is a woman and he is using the correct pronouns so all of you who don't agree are bigots... so it makes me worried if that can happen how hard would it be for a 20 year old to one day say they identify as a 16 year old, and people go well they said it and they are using the correct pronouns so it must be true!! Where does it end?

It’s a complicated topic. If a kid is suicidal because while he has been considered a boy for 12 years, he views himself as a girl because his biology is different than yours and he wants to block or delay puberty with drugs, which they call gender affirming care, I don’t want to be the one who ruins his already painful life.

The AMA says those drugs are not going to hurt him. But I know the way a lot of “grown ups” who have never had to deal with this situation are reacting, it’s giving other kids permission to be even more abusive than they already were. But you go ahead and judge the poor kid like he is trying to get away with something. I’m sure he is choosing to be born that way, right?

You know I don't know what the answer is, but when I was 12 years old the last thing I was worrying about was my gender identity? I was to busy just being a kid...which just another subject kids seem to be forced to grow up faster today and they are not mentally ready for it...

So when are kids mentally able to make that decision when it comes to what's best for them? Been a foster parent and we won't let kids decide what is best for them when it comes to living arrangements, because well they are not really mentally capable of that until at least 16, plus they can change their minds so easily. So again just thinking out loud, is 12 a bit to young to decide your gender with out a lot of counseling first, those are decisions that cannot be made lightly and not always easily reversible?

The puberty blockers are not permanent.
Once you stop them, life goes on. I feel bad for these kids. I don’t know any of the answers to help them, other than kindness.

That about sums up the whole transgender issue in 1:32.
I really don't disagree with what he says. But what he is talking about is not the issue and gets lost in all the noise in my opinion.
The issue is when they want to call themselves a woman and then go out for woman's sports then dominate in that sport.
Just a question and the way my mind works, if we elect a male president, then once in office they say they are now a woman, Did they just become the first woman to be elected president is that how history would write it?

You find some strange things to worry about. But since you brought it up I would say that person would not be the first woman elected to the office, just the first one to serve.

Hey Bullit... how many beers had you had when you thought of that.? ;)

In their final session, MO legislature passed a bill requiring transgenders to play high school sports according to their gender at birth.

I don't know, I just find it funny how men have figured out another way to keep woman in thier rightful place....funny or not...So Right now if a man and woman are up for the same job all the man needs todo is claim to be a female trapped in a male body and all of a sudden they are in more of a protected class and more deserving of that job than the actual woman...I just find that so twisted.....and it just spits in the face of all the suffering woman have gone thru all those years just to earn certain rights and now men have even figured out how to take that away from them.

So to answer your question honestly I have quit drinking for right now "not forever LOL". because the way things are going in the World right now I want to be sober so I can actually understand it.

That seems more like a "how deep were you into that joint" type of reverie.
I don't need to be smoking anything.... I am living it sober...

It also makes me question... what else can we trans identify? Can I white person now become a minority saying that is how they identify, where does it end?

3R I am afraid we are just starting to see were things might go.

One point about MO having a low number of transgenders - changes in the openness in the gay communities start in NYC and LA/San Fran, and gradually move towards the middle of the country, as does most of the trends in young people's culture.

I have no idea where you got that rationale.

There is no line. Except for where we draw one. And we draw (and move) lines all the time. Lines are useful, but let's not lose sight of the fact that they are still pretend.

What gets me about the whole transgender thing is this... if you want kids to play with their gender from birth, 99% of the time you will end up with a female born athlete who wants to transition male still playing with females. That's what got Husker so riled up on the boards earlier this year.
Also, my favorite argument is "but it will steal a scholarship..." Can anyone tell me of one female high school athlete in Missouri who has lost a scholarship to a transgender athlete?
Solution looking for a problem if you ask me.

The issue is it is early we don't know what the future will hold, so we are now setting the tone for the future and woman's sports based on the debate there are so few does it matter? But what does the future hold? Can you tell me for sure that there will still be none 20 Years from now?
Or 20 years from now could we see a women's sport team have mainly transgender's? Think about it, if you are a women's coach would you rather get a transgender who is 6'4 for your basketball team and was on their high school boys basketball team dropping 30 points on Boys, or a 5'10 girl who was dropping 30 points on girls? You and I both know what your answer will be because it is all about winning.

How many 6'4 males do you know that are athletic enough to play college basketball that are transitioning from male to female? Again, this might be a problem in 20 years, but why is it a problem right now? The Missouri legislature is such cluster right now that the GOP and their supermajority can't pass anything that actually impacts any of our lives.

Bruce Jenner was the first transgender person I ever heard of and he was an Olympic champion male that changed to a woman, he just did it after his career was over.

Again I don't care if a male feels like they are a woman, it doesn't bother me at all and it doesn't affect me at all.
The only time it will affect me or any of us is when they want all the rights that come with being a woman because then it affects my daughters my granddaughters... and that is when I don't think things are fair. I think it takes from health resources that woman critically need, Woman and babies die around here in child birth and we have more of you worried about if a man who can never birth a child should have the rights to woman's healthcare just because he feels like a woman?

Honest question to all you males fighting for the rights of Transgenders to play in female sports. Do you think you could take the top 10 athletes in the Male and Female sports, then let them transition to the other gender, would they then be able to replace the top 10 in the genders others sports? I don't think for a minute that the top 10 female basketball players could become the top 10 Male, but I do believe the top 10 males would replace the top ten females in a heart beat no matter what blockers they took, and that my friends is why it is not fair.

I don't know what the answer is.
Picturing Wembanyama playing in the WNBA.
7'3 and an 8' wingspan. Whoa!!!
I think I agree with bullit on this mostly. I don't know if there is a way to have a "separate but equal" league for male transgender. I mean I don't think female transgender is going to cause any competitive balance issues. But male transgender would. I know what I am saying when putting separate but equal in quotations, but I don't know what else to do for competition.

Maplewood HS in STL is the first school to publicly state they will defy the recent MO law prohibiting transgenders from participating in sports other than their gender at birth.

There was a young woman transitioning to being a male that competed in districts this year. One poster on here got big mad when she and her squad turbo clocked his team. Seems like he didnt like the fact that this player was playing for the same team that matched their birth gender.

I have no issues if a woman/transgender wants to compete up with males. Again most woman/teens don't have the genetic advantages that a male who is transitioning to a female might and probable would have.
I think we all are adult enough to understand that...or I would hope we are.

I understand what you are saying but it would be illegal and unconstitutional to have separate rules/laws for males and females.

The college games have differences for the mens game vs the womens game.. and even in high school they used different balls

Oh I know, it seems we cannot apply common sense to make things easy these days....

I look at it like this, if a class 2 school wants to play up they should have the option, but if a class 3 school wants to play down should we allow that?

And different bats, different pitching distance, different distance for the bases and the fences and no pitch count for the pitchers.
