Joplin College Heights is 8-man. Their game at Rich Hill was one of my "first outs" in Pick Em due to geography. That Webb-Nixa opener will be squarely on radar as a key one down your way. Tossup.

Class 5 is the most wide open if my enrollment number guesses are right. Nixa is breaking lots of newbies in. We shall see.
If I am being serious, I think Joplin has a better chance of winning a title before Nixa. I do think Nixa is going to be very good though. I feel most comfortable with Lamar in class 2. Class 5 is going to be very interesting.

I'm planning, as of now, to drive down for the Nixa-Joplin game. Had anyone told me I'd travel to your area to see anyone but Webb just a few years ago I'd roll on floor laughing uncontrollably.

Republic would be my favorite for 5A as of now. Agreed, Nixa will be very good this year. That Joplin & Nixa game is going to be a battle. Joplin's offense is stacked and there will be a couple of new names we will be hearing about once the season progresses I believe. Joplin’s defense looks better this year from what I seen at the Jamboree, they are returning 7 as opposed to just 2 a season ago.

Really? Republic? Tell me more. Not hating, truly curious.

Dont see 2nd.. somewhere 3-5 with the later being more likely, i think... But I have been wrong before and will be again....

There is NO way Webb City is winning Class 5. Absolutely no way. Ain't gonna happen. Not after what I saw at Jamboree.

I would say Hannibal or Republic.

Republic was very physical last year and I don't see that changing this year. They have a great QB and believe the TE has committed to Memphis. Their O-line gets a good push for thier backs and from what I seen of the Nixa game Republic scored every possession and ate a lot of clock in the process. That's how they beat Nixa. Republic is returning some key players. We will know more in week 1 against Carthage.

Republic has little to no chance of beating Joplin or Nixa in my opinion. They have a chance to get Webb City but as of now I would lean Webb City on that one too.

I do think they have a very good chance to get their first (ever?) win against Carthage if for no other reason than it's week one and Carthage has a lot more inexperience so week one is going to be clunky for them. But I am not counting Carthage totally out yet.

Republic should have a great shot at everyone else. I kind of see Republic, Carthage and Neosho as the middle of the pack, maybe Carl Junction too.

But who knows, I haven't seen any of them play yet. Someone is going to end up much better than we expect and someone else will lose several head scratchers.

Truth. There is no telling. With all these coaching changes this season it is up in the air for the COC.

Class 6 CBC
Class 5 West Plains
Class 4 Hannibal
Class 3 Blair Oaks
Class 2 Lamar
Class 1 Gallatin
I could see WP making the playoffs in Class 5 but idk about winning the whole thing.
Class 5 is kind of a question mark this year but I don’t think I could get on board with that just yet.
Not even 100% that WP goes Class 5.
The last projections I saw on here had WP as the smallest public in 5, wouldn’t take much for them to be the largest public in Class 4 so who knows what will be released by the experts at MSHSAA on Friday.

Now I can agree on some but again I have to say Blair Oaks has to still prove they won't slow down on offense or their defense has to make up the difference and that is a big difference. Not saying it isn't possible but I would like to give it a couple of weeks to see post-Dylan Hair era of the Blair Oaks offense.

I thought Gallatin's excellent QB graduated.............
Gallatin’s QB is still there. They graduated several key skill players but will still have a very stout line. The line won’t be too far off last year’s team. They won’t have the same depth they had last year and will be a tough class 1 team if they stay healthy.

FWIW I think Maryville will be (much) improved this season so this opener really bears watching...........

Thank you very much! I always admit my main focus, MO and elsewhere, is the largest classes so info from someone in the know really helps. Given that NOW I see why Gallatin is highly regarded coming into 2023.
