I personally don't like it. Thoughts from all of you?
Ahh c'mon DF Springfield ain't so far away, just jump a Pony and head on down. Heck it's quite a bit closer for semo area folks, but will still be quite expensive to attend I'm sure. Will they go back a two day tourney or play in another arena there also?MSHSAA announced a new state basketball championship venue. It awarded a five-year contract starting in the 2017-18 school year to JQH Arena on the campus of Missouri State. Next school year will be the last at Mizzou Arena. The move to Springfield means the state basketball championships will not be held in Columbia for the first time since 1991 when they were held at Hammons Student Center in Springfield.
I suspected this was coming...
I've enjoyed attending and hosting the games in Columbia for many years.
Looks like next year will be my last...
I'm beginning to dislike the SEC more n more...oo

I assume the rumors about the SEC deal were not true. I find it hard to believe they could tell their member schools they have to pass on a LOT of money by not having other events in their own arenas. I for one have no problem with it moving to Springfield, I like that place much better than Columbia.not an SEC fan, either.. but not sure they had much to do with this, unless I am missing something. Columbia bid on it again,
I don't know why #1 would be an issue. I've been to several events, games, graduations, concerts, etc at the Q and have never had a big issue. To me it's much easier to get a round than in Columbia.I just hope for a few things......
1) It does not take an hour and a half to get through town, park and into the arena!
2) If you can not make the long drive from the north, you can at least watch it for free on Foxsports again!
One advantage of having the final four in Columbia is that it is a central location.
