Springfield, Missouri high school basketball appears to be getting their Mojo back. St. Louis, Kansas City, Southeast Missouri, Northwest Missouri and Mid-Mo have had strong teams in the MSHSAA for the past few year.
If Aminu Mohammed ( Soph ) stays @ class 2 Geenwood, class 2 in Missouri may not be up for grabs in for the next two years.
Kickapoo is usually strong and could be a player in class 5 next year. There are a few class 1 and 4 schools in the Springfield area who could rise and be players in a strong class 1 field. Class 3 belongs to Tony Irons and his Vashon Woverines.

Ru-B-Do and MSUBEARS could us a more detailed account of a strong Springfield area.

If I am correct, it does indeed appear the Springfield area is getting their " Mojo back " but we must wait for the Ru-B-Do and MSUBears report to be for sure.

I would keep an eye on Kickapoo. The sophomore Anton Brookshire is a stud and will only get better. He is the nephew of Rob Yanders and stays in the gym all year round. He has an amazing support staff with the Basketball Movement and is being groomed to be one of the best in the nation. With Rob’s connections he has the luxury to train with some of the nations elite, including NBA players.

Well, first of all, I don't think post-season success means much in terms of which part of the state is either up or down. All you have to do is be good (and lucky) for two weeks. That's it. Plenty of times over the decades, the best SPS team hasn't been able to make it out of districts, which has meant a less than acceptable team has been the SPS rep in post-season play. Just because Greenwood and Catholic (two privates schools) had nice post-season runs doesn't mean SPS was any good or will be good in the future.

In fact, this was the WORST year EVER for SPS since we went to five public schools in 1971-72 when Kickapoo opened.

2018-19
Kickapoo 22-5 - Class 5 Quarters
Glendale 13-13
Parkview 13-13
Hillcrest 8-18
Central 0-25
56-74 (.43%)

Other bad years:
1995-96 (Kickapoo 24-5, Parkview 15-9, Hillcrest 9-15, Glendale 6-20, Central 3-20)
57-69 (.45%)
1976-77 (Parkview 19-8, Glendale 13-9, Central 10-13, Hillcrest 9-14, Kickapoo 7-15)
58-59 (.495%)
1973-74 (Hillcrest 18-7, Glendale 17-5, Parkview 11-12, Kickapoo 8-14, Central 3-18)
57-56 (.504%)

Kickapoo does have Anton Brookshire for two more seasons, but I don't think they've got a whole lot to go with him. Maybe enough to beat the teams around here, but not enough to compete with K.C., Central MO, or StL. Parkview will have Dontae Taylor returning as a senior. Hillcrest will be about the same. Central will have a new coach, so who knows what'll happen there. Glendale will have Jadon Gilpin as a senior, Harrell and Ledgerwood as sophomores. I don't see my Falcons being much of a contender until 2021-22. I look for Catholic to revert back to their norm. Greenwood should be about the same, perhaps even better.

Best SPS seasons ever:
1968-69
Glendale 21-4 - Top Ten Class L
Parkview 19-6 - Class L Sectionals
Central 18-4
Hillcrest 14-10
72-24 (.75%)

1979-80
Glendale 26-4 - 4A Quarters
Parkview 23-5 - Top Ten 4A
Central 22-6 - 4A Sectionals
Kickapoo 17-10
Hillcrest 16-11
104-36 (.74%)

1997-98
Kickapoo 28-2 - 4A Quarters
Glendale 19-8 - Top Ten 4A
Parkview 16-10
Hillcrest 15-12
Central 14-12
92-44 (.68%)

1998-99
Glendale 27-3 - Top 30 in America
Parkview 22-6 - Top Ten 4A
Kickapoo 17-8 - Top Ten 4A
Hillcrest 16-12 - 4A Sectionals
Central 13-15 - 3A Quarters
95-44 (.68%)
