How would you split up the Private Schools vs Public schools in a playoff format?

The topic of Private vs Public has been beat to death on here, so lets just focus on how it would be split if it did come to pass. Do you split it 2 Private vs 4 Public? Or 2 Private vs 5 Public? Does the best Private school play the top Public for bragging rights? Just wondering what people think.

Large and small private. St Louis would win those on repeat, depending on where the break would be. Valle might sneak in a title here or there if they can somehow curtail the 'superteam' phenomenon.

I would hope they would only go down to 5 public classes. More than 64 in a classification is way too many. As has been stated many times, Class 1 size disparity is causing a major leak into 8-man. Gotta fix that somehow. Keeping 6 classes and pairing down Class 1 might do it.

That Large private would be tough class for those teams on the cutoff. Going from 1440 kids to 365 kids. Good info!!!

I don't see Joplin College Heights. They started playing 8 man this year. Don't believe they played any other private schools - might be the only private in 8 man?

Once split, they will open recruit and their will be nothing you can do about it. They have way deeper pockets and can make offers public schools just can’t make. They are going to take all your good coaches and kids.

You’ll then end up with a watered down public school system when the same 10 (probably less) schools are the only one competing for state titles people will start complaining and making accusations.

There was talk of an interstate private league a few years ago and once Missouri splits it will probably happen. It will be massive. Good luck with the monster you will create but don’t be surprised when your little superstar sophomore takes off.

Could this happen, yes, but probably not. The vast majority of privates are in STL, where everyone complains about already. There would be a chance that some smaller KC privates would take off if this happened. But I just don't see that in the rural areas. I don't think anyone is going to pick up from NEMO and go STL or from SWMO to KC. And I know it won't happen in mid-mo. I also don't think privates would get all the good coaches because of public school retirement. Now if they ever change that I think you could be spot on with stealing all the coaches. Again, I don't want to see a split, just enforce the rules of transferring and such.

I think some of these private schools downright have taken away from high school sports fairness and something has to be done to correct it but I don't think all private schools are the problem. I think a lot of them compete at the level they play at and I don't have any problem with that. It is the ones that have recruited (To their credit better than anyone else) and have created an unfair advantage.

Don't split Private and Public have six classes. keep the Championship Factor and bring back the 1.35 multiplier. That might help level the playing field.

What people don't talk about but another outcome of the public schools recruiting athletes. Is the fact that the enrollment is way down because of it.
This shows the students in the feeder schools are not enrolling as much and probably deciding to go to public schools. Some of the enrollments are hard to believe. Duchesne at 207? Lutheran North 191?
Why is St. Mary's possibly closing? Because the feeder churches are reducing support as their kids are no longer going there. Some of these school are strictly for sports now. These schools will start losing support from their feeder schools and only the strong will survive.
If your a private school and not recruiting you will seldom be able to compete at the state level now.
