1) They're playing with similar talent pools. Now that Lockwood has kids from 3 towns on its roster the main private school advantage is waived.

2) According to our friend counterallday the valle kids are soft and fold if you hit them. Lockwood will hit them.
3) In relation to 2, golden city is in barton county. Barton county is also the home of Lamar who trounced the warriors. Not just trounced but might have beaten valle worse than anyone in history. Barton county water makes for good football players. GC kids play for Lockwood. Buckle your chinstraps warriors.

Don't know much about Lockwood. They're a bunch of hard-nosed farm kids. They finished 3rd in the SRVC behind Pierce City & Sarcoxie. I was totally underwhelmed by Valle when they played Lamar. Now I know that Lamar had a lot to do with that but Valle didn't like being hit & the Oline couldn't handle Lamar's attacking Dline. Valle's QB panicked when pressured. On the rare occasion he had time to throw, he trashed Lamar's DBs. I have no idea if Lockwood has the ability to duplicate what Lamar did but if they can, they have a very good chance.

Hope Lockwood can win!

I'm the kind of guy to admit when he's wrong. Earlier this season I said Lockwood wouldn't be in the November hunt, or wouldn't have a horse in the race, whatever analogy I used. They've proved me wrong. I apologize for not respecting the Tigers; I also apologize for implying Golden City was a less than great place to reside.

It's okay. Lockwood has the benefit of a weak district and a weak district paired with them in the Quarters so their game against Valle will more than likely be a massacre.

I seem to recall a few years ago, a team from out state Missouri, referred to themselves as the corn fed boys versus the "alter boys from St. Louis". That didn't work out so well either.

Veer is an SRVC hater which trails only his hate for private schools. Not sure why he is posting bulletin board material? As stated, LW was a distant 3rd to PC and Sarcoxie. Thayer bulldozed both of them and came up way short in their bid against Valle. I root for all sw mo teams. I truly do wish I could say LW will win. However, I'll just say Good Luck and givemell!

The main problem is that LT has played only low ranked class 1 teams this year. Valle has played mostly class 2 squads including Lamar who railed them and Caruthersville who was the class 2 dist 1 champs who they beat. They also easily beat Ste Genevieve who was in the class 3 dist 1 title game this year. Not to mention their playoff wins against Hayti and Thayer who are both highly ranked class 1 teams. Lamar is the only team that’s been able to run on Valle all year so hopefully LT has a novel game plan ready. Unfortunately it appears that prayer may be the best option.

I was thinking the same thing! Some one else posted that lockwood is a bunch of hard nose farm kids.... They don't know much about Ste Gen. Pretty sure most of those kids are the same lol.

I'm not sure where Lamar ranks in class 2 size wise. I believe they have about 400 or so students. A LOT of class 4 or 5 schools would not handle them either.

I would love to see the Lutheran North/Lamar game but I will be elsewhere. Good luck to Lamar.

Hey, I'm from Golden City, and even I take NO OFFENCE to any of the "truth" that has been said about GC on this Thread. :)

That being said.....I'll take Valley in this one......30 - 14

There are no more 'hard nosed farm boys'. How many small family farms are still around? How many farmers use small bales?

My guess is less than 20% of current class 1 players are 'farm kids' and those aren't putting up 1000 bales a day in the summer.

It's a long drive for the Lockwood fans and I hope a lot of them make the drive. I can guarantee you that you will be treated in a friendly and respective manner regardless of the outcome of the game.

My mistake Scrag, you are absolutely correct. However my point remains the same, Lockwood hasn’t played anyone all year. Every team is going to have a few sallys on their schedule but nearly every team LT played this year is either very low ranked class 1 (excluding Pierce & Sarcoxie) and one game against class 2 Diamond which is anything but a quality opponent. I hope I’m wrong but I think LT’s lack of quality opponents this year comes back to bite them on Saturday.

Ah, the good ol' days. Hand stacking bales in the top of a 130 degree barn. Man, I 'miss' those days. Just kidding, I'd much rather just spike a few large round bales with my tractor and get on with my day.

If Lockwood wins the trash talk will live on for many years to come. Stamp it !!

I'm going to be driving to St.Louis this weekend and can't decide which game to go to Lamar Vs LN or Valle vs the Wood... I have reasons to want to see both and its hoping to see 2 certain teams get beat..

Lamar and Lutheran North is going to be a helluva game, but Ste. Genevieve has better restaurants and I have a hunger for some Oberle dawg. And we have the American Legion if you're thirsty.

Nothing against Lockwood, they have done well for the 3rd place SRVC team and represented the conference well. The thing is, all this talk about playing in the semi's is true but meaningless. I don't think you could put 2 districts from class one together from the rest of the state as bad as the 2 Lockwood has come through. It isn't as though they have caught lightning in a bottle. It was predictable they get this far (I said they would as did many others). I am glad they are there but they need to keep their hat size the same until they do something Saturday that doesn't involve a running clock score before halftime (probably 1st qtr).

Vallegrad2 I'll be rooting for Valle and don't see you guys having a problem in this game. But please you guys have to do something about the visitors seating those bleachers are a lawsuit waiting to happen. GO VALLE BLUE!

I agree and have voiced that same opinion multiple times.
The ca 1955 field house and home seating were replaced several years ago and the visitor seating is a pain in the a$$ so to speak, and is an embarrassment especially when visiting teams come to town and see it for the first time..

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but who refers to Lockwood as "the Wood"?

I have seen a sign calling them "Cockwoo!" before call me childish but I did smile a little

See "Digging on State Champs Thread" Looks like Lockwood has beat 6 class 1, 1-A champs so far this year!!!
