Some interesting lists:

You know the lists that matter most? The ones showing recruiting rankings, because like it or not, they're most indicative of future success.

Right now Mizzou is getting out-recruited by heavyweights like Iowa State, Minnesota, Purdue, Wake Forest, Oregon State and East Carolina...

Wait, so Pinkel had top 5 recruting rankings? Where the hell was I at?

Mizzou needs to do better, but a realistic bump would be in the 20's. They can do ok there. With a coaching change obviously, because BO won't take them there.

That's a neat strawman, but I'll bite. Pinkel never coached in a National Championship or BCS bowl game either.

Fact is, teams that consistently make the playoff/play in big time bowl games also consistently recruit well.

Cotton Bowl has been and is now a 'big time' bowl.

Mizzou will never recruit in the top 10. They have and still will make occasional appearances there was my point.

If Mizzou's down years are 6-6, their average years are 8-4 and we get a 10-2 every 7 years or so I think that would be good. To me, that is a realistic aim. We cant have the 4-8 seasons. That is unacceptable.

If they could have semi-competently recruited St. Louis this past cycle they would have been top 10.
No. Even when Pinkel’s best years where around 20. Mizzou will never be able to recruit out of state well enough for top 10 and Missouri does produce enough even if Mizzou could lock down the in state

Mizzou and their nine 4* players in state last year likely would have been top 10. Not really worth arguing about. No they wouldn't do it every year, but last year they definitely could have, and that's a momentum builder for the entire program.

As it is, they struck out in St. Louis and only got one 4* from Kansas City and wound up somewhere in the 50's overall and 13th in the SEC.

I am not arguing. They would not have been top 10 with 9 4 star signees. Oregon had 9 4 star recruits and was 18th.

Missouri will never be in the top 10. It doesn't have the in state talent and they will never pull out of state talent to do it. However this doesn't keep other schools like Mizzou from competing at a high level.
