Matheneging.in the 5th with a runner at 3rd and no outs then have to pull him in the 7th. The pen is full of arms and that seemed to be a great time to let Holliday hit knowing just a fly ball extends the lead.
Only one out...didn't need a hit. Of course, Jay wasn't able to get him home with no outs. Which would've made this a moot point. I swear, Jay just has to have naked/scandalous pics of Mo or MM or Dewitt. Hopefully Pham's night puts Jay down for a bit. Maybe even off the playoff roster. A boy can dream, right?Nobody on this team gets a hit with a man on 3rd and Garcia gave us a great inning. Cards win brilliant move on MM's part.
Dunno...Not sure why you rush a guy like him back if so. A lot of MLB'ers can hit 12 hoppers to 2B.Is Jon Jay still hurt? Serious question
I guess you forgot about the screamer Jay hit up the middle that happened to hit the pitchers glove. Dude was shocked to it was in there. Let's not forget that I was the one who said I didn't think Jay would be on the playoff roster and as of today I don't think he should be. He's not fast and he's not hitting well. There are others that would be more valuable either starting or off the bench for a playoff run. I would guess if you leave him off it might make trading him for something of value a little tougher.Dunno...Not sure why you rush a guy like him back if so. On a serious note...He has to be. The ball literally comes off the bat at a snails pace, and has the last couple years. Last season he enjoyed a really high BABIP...but virtually no gap power at all. His ISO has been crazy low the last couple years. Basically has turned in to Erin Miles 2.0. It's frustrating, because as much as I like to give 3R crap about him...I actually respect the job Jay has done. But to keep running him out there now is just silly.
Can't say this season counts for much with the injury issue. That's the problem, he didn't get to play enough, or do well enough, to attract anything of value in a trade.Don't know if he has much trade value after the season he has had this year, but I really don't see how he fits in their plans for the future with all the young OFs they have. I am assuming they sign JHey.
I mean, that's literally one batted ball. Easy to find one or two examples. My point was, and remains, he's just not busting the ball into gaps like he did a couple of years ago.I guess you forgot about the screamer Jay hit up the middle that happened to hit the pitchers glove. I don't get why we are so intent on rushing guys back when we are up this many games on the Pirates and Pham/Piscotty are playing wellYou have to wonder if these guys are telling the truth about how they feel. Everyone wants to play in the playoffs. The young guys haven't played bad. The veterans don't want to be left out. I can see them pushing to get back in there the last couple weeks whether they're really ready or not..
Guys need some games to figure out if they really are healthy enough and to get back in the groove. They can't just wait until playoffs start and throw then out there. I'd rather do that now when we do have a little cushion. But what do they do if the returners struggle all the way to the end? Who do you take in that first round? 20 games before the end of the year? And when guys like Holliday clearly are still not right?Guys need some games to figure out if they really are healthy enough and to get back in the groove.
