Michael Porter Jr. coming to Mizzou opens up so many future opportunities for Mizzou basketball for recruiting. Who else besides Jontay and possibly MPJ's three other younger brothers comes to Mizzou in the future?
So how many other recruits will come to Mizzou now in 2017 and 2018 because of Micheal Porter Jr.

Was hoping that Jontay would reclass and they could flip Tilmon and/or Smith. Looks unlikely for any of that now. With MPJ and Roberts, that leaves one open scholly. Not sure if they'll use it or not. Have heard HCCM isn't ushering folks out the door like some thought he would. Good for him...but...MPJ is one and done. Was sort of hoping his commitment would bring a couple others and get the snowball rolling downhill. Ride a good season and NCAA tourney appearance to a quick turnaround. Might not be the case now.
They need to find a monster big man that can clog the middle and defend the basket.
Probably makes the most sense. At this point, can't see why they won't. Assuming MPJ is selling it hard to McCoy at the McD's. He'd be a huge get, but would have to think it's a long shot at this point. Cuonzo and Cal (the school, not the coach) didn't make his short list. But I'd have to think there's at least a punchers chance, as he seems to not have much lean right now.
Right now I would imagine they are a bubble team at best. Sitting there hoping to get in but not a lock by any means.
I think they'll try the grad transfer market to patch the hole this year. That market has yet to completely shake out. We shall see.
I'd say that's the most likely scenario. Fair to say they've got more than a puncher's chance there.
There are some very good juco players in the state of Missouri they might be able to get. I know the two top guys at 3R have already signed and most of the others in the region may have too, I haven't heard.
Not what they're looking for. Pretty sure the biggest need they've identified is a big. The juco bigs that could come in and make a difference are few and far between.

If they need a quick fix that's not a long term commitment a juco kid could be that. Region 16 is just one of 16 regions in the country, they would have a lot of options there. I'd bet there are some good big men out there. Highland, Illinois didn't have big kids but they shot 50% from 3 as a team and at least two of them were very good and very quick.
I would imagine you know what I mean by "right now" if not I will clarify. With the current roster that they have I believe they will be a bubble team next season. So I am saying they will be better than 8-24! Unless I misread what you were saying and you think they will be 8-24 next season!
The bigs that are left are two star players. That's worse than Russell Woods, for your reference. The amount of difference making juco bigs available are few and far between.
There were always only a few high D1 difference makers in Juco and I think that number is even lower now days. If a kid is that good some D1 program will get them in or they end up at a prep school. They just don't take the Juco route very often. There's still lots of Juco players who can get PT at a decent D1 but very VERY few are going to be that difference maker.
Was Mizzou better off playing Russ this year versus the younger guys more? I'd say no. Russ wasn't going to help them win 15 games. They likely wouldn't have lost many more giving more time to the younger guys to get experience which might help next year.

I think he played out of necessity by the time it should've been decided to play the youngins (early to mid January). Nikko had the hip stuff and something else that seriously limited his ability to play a bunch of minutes. And Smith was already done for the season by then. Just weren't other options.
