This Friday night! Last year was one of the most exciting finishes in all MO as the Warriors blew a 3 TD halftime lead and lost 28-27 then avenged in a very exciting 33-28 district final enroute to their first ever C4 semifinal.

Having seen PC in person their passing offense is LETHAL but the QB literally played pitch and catch most of the night. Their big question is running the ball especially vs. what should be the best front seven they will play this regular season.

Smithville is being led by the Miller brothers. I stated pre-season Isaac is the #1 RB in the Northland regardless of class and stick by that statement BUT have the Warriors really been tested?

Comments (especially from anyone who has seen both in person)??????

Smithville I have seen in person. They are Smithville Lite compared to last year. And who have they beaten? Grain Valley (who barely beat Savannah and Grandview) and a host of bad teams.
PC should win this one by 10.

Grain Valley had PC down 17 going into the 4th qtr. Platte County, to me, seems like a very up and down team...........not surprising given most of their key players are JRs.

Kearney beat Tonka by more than Grain Valley, and GV went 6-3, over Grandview. Kearney beating GV is a big possibility. GV conrolled the clock, and limited PC's time of possession. Kearney probably will not be a good match up for GV.
It was 25-22 in the 4Q between Smithville and GV. That along with the Smithville's schedule, tells me they are Smithville Lite. Defintely not as impressive as last year.

District 8 up for grabs as well as the conference (which I don't pay attention to.) I still put PC as a frontrunner. If they get their passing game going, they will roll.

I am on board with Platte County (boy will I be come 2020) winning this district UNLESS the weather, as it tends to do in this part of the country, has its say come November. I don't care for spread/passing offenses in cold/nasty weather.

For what it's worth (will find out in just one week) I think any team with good size is a bad matchup for Kearney this year. I favor the Eagles in that one.

As another addendum have you seen the Warriors' RB? He is a game changer............

Yeah, running backs look great against bad teams. Through four games, Excelsior has all kinds of running stats lighting up the boards.
Trust me this Miller kid is special. I forget who but one of the MEC posters pointed him out two years ago as a SOPH. Tonight (cannot wait gonna be a great evening for HSFB) will be very telling.

Tonka's Marquise Doherty in 2014. 115 yards per game. Versus Kearney: 25

Ha comparing to Jones and staff's D: I was at that game Doherty was banged up barely played. And Tonka won 17-14. Sorry to say but the 2019 D has already had a pair of 50 burgers served to it. This is a subject I still would rather visit in full once this season is complete..............

Don't think he's meaning Kearney's 2019 D, he's talking about a RB with great stats against lesser teams, and then being relatively shut down by an actual good defense.

Perhaps but I am only concerned with what is happening today, not five years ago and (to reiterate) I was at that game and Doherty was injured and barely played ergo I was clarifying why he only gained 25 yards.

Tonight is approaching by the hour (miss the days when I would do that for the ole alma mater) and will tell a lot although I still think Grain Valley has the best D in the Suburban Blue.............

The point: "Super star" running backs can look pretty average when facing a good rush D. And look All-Pro playing really bad teams.

I get it just don't think Grain Valley's D is bad at all and he fared very well vs. them.

I guess I don’t understand the theory that most of Platte county‘s key players are juniors. The whole offense of line and defense of line, most of the secondary, two of the running backs are all seniors. And they are all kids that played together and had success since first grade. I believe next year will be a down year for the Pirates. This year‘s team has a shot at making the finals though.

QB and WR? There are others who are JRs as well...............as for this year we shall see. I would like to see them establish a running game as that will be essential should the weather take its almost customary November turn.

Can't wait to see it tonight.
Weather is the only little question mark. Hopefully that rain out west either stays there or fizzles. Regardless there is no doubt we can all speculate all we want but NO real way to predict this one.

Sometimes it is purely comparative sometimes not BUT Platte County has now become a "reload" not rebuild program. I'd bet you the farm they are nowhere near down next year.............

See tonight's game. I rest my case.
The PC line was dominant no question. That will work well for them come November/playoff time. If this team figures out the rushing offense..............look out.

144 total yards of offense against PC. No, they had not been tested.

Watching the game replay it appears Smithville was simply not ready for this prime time moment. Seemed very nervous especially the first half and the O Line, a unit which returned almost intact, got owned. Still wondering about the Grain Valley factor into all this in the Suburban Blue. Guess we will find out more this Friday.

Smithville's O line got beat. Lots of hurries and a couple sacks. And PC's O line owned the night on Smithville's D. They could run--lots of 5 to 7 yard gains.
