Shut down an offense that was putting up close to 50 all season.
The BRICK WALL is back, folks, but will be beyond tested next week!Shut down an offense that was putting up close to 50 all season.
Championship experience always so valuable this time of year plus this is it for Smithville. Very, very senior heavy team. Schedule not the biggest factor given how the bulk of the Suburban Blue turned out this year. CONGRATS to the Warriors and all the best next week will see you all again in person.Shut down an offense that was putting up close to 50 all season.
Sounds like a blast from the past. Unbelievably cold and windy can make a good offense struggle against a good defense. Especially those trying to run certain offenses. Ask me how I know….haThe BRICK WALL is back, folks, but will be beyond tested next week!
I remember November 2008 especially those poor SC fans who had to face that brutal wind and flurries that quarterfinal day in KTown!Sounds like a blast from the past. My old man was still wearing his signature shorts…but you know it’s cold when he finally admitted that even he was cold that day. I think the only time I’ve been that cold since was in Dickinson, ND in the winter time. It surely was brutal…I remember November 2008 especially those poor SC fans who had to face that brutal wind and flurries that quarterfinal day in KTown!
It won't be 70 but probably 50-55 this weekend. Heading over to Smithville to see what they have for another STL private all star team St. Mary's.My old man was still wearing his signature shorts…but you know it’s cold when he finally admitted that even he was cold that day. I think the only time I’ve been that cold since was in Dickinson, ND in the winter time. It surely was brutal…
Then, of course, I go to the Kearney-Webb game @ Webb the next year and it’s like 70F that same weekend a year later.
8ypc and they only handed it off to the RB's 10 times, sounds like bad coaching to me. And Kearney still got turbo clocked running it for 8ypc.The K RBs averaged 8 ypc. I wonder what St Mary’s will average? SV might need St Mary’s to turn the ball over five times as well. I see it 35-14. But turnovers?
I am going to talk about this one during the short work week. 100 percent attending it hoping the Warriors can figure out how to eke this one out.The K RBs averaged 8 ypc. I wonder what St Mary’s will average? SV might need St Mary’s to turn the ball over five times as well. I see it 35-14. But turnovers?
Great memories of a game far closer than the final score. Love the Game does not love Kearney. All good to each one's own!5 turn overs genius. Was it bad coaching when they beat Smithville earlier in the year? Fort Osage?
Well is Kearney still playing? No one really remembers what happens in regular season. Let me guess, lets talk about how good Kearney will be next year.5 turn overs genius. Was it bad coaching when they beat Smithville earlier in the year? Fort Osage?
Let me guess, you actually think St. Mary’s will lose this week?Well is Kearney still playing? No one really remembers what happens in regular season. Let me guess, lets talk about how good Kearney will be next year.
Their defense is a liability they did not have last year. Offense is a whole other matter, though. This could be similar to CBC at Liberty North. To be honest, I think this Smithville-St Mary’s game will be pretty close.
I wasn’t as impressed with St Mary’s as I thought I would be.
Now don’t get me wrong, crazy athleticism and speed but…
Penalty prone, fundamental mistakes being made left and right.
Game was neck and neck until the KR for a TD and then a pick six maybe 2 min later for St Mary’s.
I think St Mary’s may need Smithville to make mistakes to stretch this out, and I don’t think the Warriors will.
10-1 Minnick's first year an absolute miracle considering where the program was. Next year beyond loaded. A very, very special JR class will likely learn a whole lot about the intensity of the playoffs plus Smithville, while a great program, will be in complete reload mode in 2023.Well is Kearney still playing? No one really remembers what happens in regular season. Let me guess, lets talk about how good Kearney will be next year.
Are you saying Smithville D that just shutout Center is a liability?Their defense is a liability they did not have last year. Offense is a whole other matter, though. This could be similar to CBC at Liberty North.
Are you saying Smithville D that just shutout Center is a liability?
I’m being serious, and not a smart alleck, maybe you meant St Mary’s
No St. Mary's D is. Smithville is in brick wall mode just like last November-December.Are you saying Smithville D that just shutout Center is a liability?

The St. Mary's O is very similar, at least from the games I've seen, to CBC. Huge O Line and great skill talent (almost extreme good for this level). I actually like their QB better than CBC, though. No St. Mary's D is. Smithville is in brick wall mode just like last November-December.
That’s what I’m saying, I think Smithville will have to make a lot of miscues on D if St Mary’s wants to stretch it out. I see this as being a 7-10 point game in favor of St Mary’s but wouldn’t be shocked if Smithville pulled out a WNo St. Mary's D is. Smithville is in brick wall mode just like last November-December.
The other comparison is pretty obvious their SCHEDULE. Illinois 8A contender Neuqua Valley (who barely lost to finalist and heavy favorite Lincoln Way East) plus perennial KY power Louisville Trinity. Blew DeSmet away, too.The St. Mary's O is very similar, at least from the games I've seen, to CBC. Huge O Line and great skill talent (almost extreme good for this level). Tempo will be the key. If any C4 public can do it I would trust the Warriors way before anyone else, frankly. That’s what I’m saying, I think Smithville will have to make a lot of miscues on D if St Mary’s wants to stretch it out. I agree with that 100%Tempo will be the key. If any C4 public can do it I would trust the Warriors way before anyone else, frankly.
OK drill is spot on about Ambroson et al.I agree with that 100%

I sincerely hope not but the potential definitely is there. Need long clock eating sustained FINISHING drives to knock off someone like St. Mary's. Back to that CBC game I witnessed in person what a difference halftime made! Most impressive quarter of HSFB I've seen all year, frankly.A fun run, but Smithville doesn't have the O to take advantage of St. Mary's D. It will be CBC vs. Liberty North part II
Weather will not be a factor - will be in the 40s, low 50s. The problem will be not having the O that can get you out of trouble, like against MICDS. If St. Mary's romps, then answering will be an issue.I sincerely hope not but the potential definitely is there. Impressive as Smithville was at Kearney in particular I was disappointed to see the passing game not really improve. That will, agree, have to be spot on for them to pull this shocker off.Weather will not be a factor - will be in the 40s, low 50s. That was a case of the team with deep playoff and Championship experience playing the upstart without it. Smithville was in Championship mode while Kearney appeared to be in regular season mode ergo the turnovers.Yes, impressive in creating turnovers.
Will be interested to see if Smithville can hang with St. Mary's. They obviously had a great day defensively vs Center, who has more legit speed than anybody Smithville had seen. St. Mary's will be all of that, plus some. Would love to see the Warriors pull it off.
No need to bring race into this, JN. Center was clearly faster, which allowed them to stay in the game with a Smithville team that executes very well and is very balanced. Good luck to the Warriors. The K team has three guys faster than anyone on Center's team. "Being Black" does not equal faster.
Gee, at least K could score on Smithville. 21 points in one game. What a miracle.
This week a different story...St. Mary's has three legit speedsters that nobody has seen round these parts. Except for the K state champ in the hurdles who plays D.
Game situation dictates how agressive Smithville's offense is. Their passing game can absolutely be a weapon when they need it to be.Yes, impressive in creating turnovers.
They will need it to be this Saturday. #18 in particular impresses me.Game situation dictates how agressive Smithville's offense is. Their passing game can absolutely be a weapon when they need it to be.
