With the State Championship games being played in December and the XFL using the Dome in February; has MSHSAA considered going back to the Dome for the Show Me Bowl.

That should cover the concern for testing and player safety. However the last contract I think MSHSAA was paying 100K per day? to rent the dome. Just from a fan’s perspective, I would be all for it.

I think a great idea would be to hold the state championship games at the new St. Louis MLS stadium that is set to open in 2022. Not only would it be a state-of-the-art venue, but its capacity of ~22,000 would make for a much more intimate and exciting atmosphere.

No it will stay at Columbia. Our tax money for that dome and they are trying to throw it away like it's plastic.

Noah has intimacy concerns so let’s at least listen to his proposal.

The whole too much crime narrative is tired, come on veer.
The overall crime rate in St. Louis is 196% higher than the national average. For every 100,000 people, there are 22.26 daily crimes that occur in St. Louis. St. Louis is safer than 1% of the cities in the United States. In St. Louis you have a 1 in 13 chance of becoming a victim of any crime.

The Dome and Faurot field is too big to host state championship games. It's doesn't feel like a high school championship games playing at the Dome and faurot field. More smaller college will create a more energized and exciting atmosphere.

8-Man Northwest Missouri State
1-2 Missouri Western
3-4 Missouri Southern
5-6 Missouri State

How many crimes happen at the State Championship games??

the Dome is indoors 78 degrees. No excuses for either team and extremely comfortable for fans.
That CBC/Rock game last year was miserably cold and wet.

you can stay at a 4/5 star hotel in Downtown St Louis and watch the games indoors.

BUT you guys would rather stay in a bed bug ridden 2 star Motel in the middle of nowhere and freeze to death lol

Since we been complaining about it since 2016, I have the best solution for this. Since MSHSAA spends over 100k renting stadiums for state championships. MSHSAA should use their money a different way and build a sports complex near Columbia or Jeff City. A indoor Football/Soccer stadium, softball and Baseball fields for state championships. This would saved them alot of money every year.

Be the first ever High School Association to have their own Sports Complex.

Outsider perspective here but I agree, the dome is way too big. Illinois made the move years ago from Hancock Stadium at Illinois State (around 14,000 capacity) to Memorial Stadium at the U of I (over 60,000). Now they switch every year between Memorial and Huskie Stadium at Northern Illinois (around 25,000). Memorial is WAAAAYYYYY too big for high school games. Unless you're talking about Texas where they can get 50,000+ for a high school game it just ends up feeling like the game is in an empty stadium. Find something in the 20-30,000 range. Big enough so everyone can have a seat, small enough that the state championship is still played in front of a packed house.

STL has as many if not more "bed bug ridden 2 star Motels than anywhere in the state... just sayin'

Even with only four schools at each location wouldn’t lodging be an issue?

Ever watched a game at MOSO ? Worst venue I've ever been to . They have made upgrades to the video board and North end zone facility but as a fan it's aweful . The stands are literally like 50 yards from the field . I hate watching games there

MSSU seriously needs to fix that issue even if it means placing a track at another location. Fans are so damn far away it could be sold out and the players wouldn't notice anyone is there . There is no "atmosphere" or "electric" there . Just hard to get into the game. This is coming from someone who lives under 2 miles from the stadium and goes to multiple games a year. It's crappy .

*Two 8-man teams aren't going to bring much.[/QUOTE]
I have been to an 8 man state champ at Mo West and I will guarantee they bring more bodies than many urban/suburban private schools do.

Yes but you can decline to stay there and stay at the Westin, Lumiere, Ritz, or the Four Seasons instead. Not a lot of options for the many guest coming to watch the state games if its in Maryville, Joplin, or Warrenburg like suggested.

I know it is a very sensitive subject but the perception St Louis has from the rest of the state and even nation has a lot to do lately with all the killings of children. What are we at now,18 this year?
I loved watching all the games at the Dome, but I drove up there, stayed at the Drury across the street, and only walked between the two buildings. Numbers don’t lie it’s the most dangerous city in the nation

St. Joe has plenty of nice hotels. They aren't 5-star, but they aren't 2-star either. The downside is it is not centrally located, but it is very conveniently located for me.

Missouri Western - 8 man. (Centrally located for 8-man teams)
Central Missouri - 4, 5, 6 (semi-centrally located public university)
Lincoln - 1, 2, 3 (centrally located public university)
I would think would be big enough for smaller schools -

Benefits to Missouri public universities.
