I have goose bumps anticipating the knowledgeable posts, in-depth analysis and witty banter we have to look forward to in the coming weeks.
Early season is great...no one knows jack squat about these teams...kind of like the pollsters in the Presidential election.
Being that an off year is finishing with a District championship and being a couple plays from beating the eventual state champion--I don't think there will be any gate storming this year.
Definitely a Webbie trying to fire up his own team. I don't know any real CJ fan who would predict this. This CJ fan thinks that CJ will have played well if it's any closer than a Webb 35-13 win. The game is at Webb, Webb has everyone back, and Webb will have a chip on their shoulder. Not a good combination for us visiting Bulldogs, especially with the inexperience we have on defense.
Not a Webbie. Go to google and type in Flint222 and select Images. A GI Joe figure pops up. Replace that beret with a visor and who does it look like? That's right --- CJ Coach Doug Buckmaster. Flint222 is actually Buck. And hey, we gotta love his confidence in his Bulldog program. By the way, Stamp It! is also terminology meaning "to throw down one's headset."

That is basically what I am expecting. I went to the opening game last year not sure who would win, feeling like CJ may actually have an edge. Not only was CJ very talented, but they finished the previous season with the rug pulled out from under them, giving them motivation and probably confidence that it could be done - not to mention on home field. They seemed focused and ready to pounce on an unusually inexperienced WC team that may have thought the game was won simply by wearing a cardinal jersey. It was not a surprising outcome to me. Especially after listening to the pre-game show on the way to the stadium where Roderique almost seemed to be grooming the media and fans for an ugly game by the Cardinals. I think he knew his team wasn't adequately prepared for the dogs. That was just my observation.
But this year is nothing like last. I think WC will be out to prove something. It sounds like a lot of returning talent to build upon a strong second half of last season. My guess is a more 'typical' WC game, with WC leading by a score or two at half, then completely runs away in the 3Q.

I enjoyed last year. It was fun to actually go to a game where the outcome was not predetermined. Not that I like losing but the games were actually exciting

I got my popcorn ready just to read this thread. How invigorating. I am going to root like a maniac for both teams and their bands.
The first cj/ Webb game last year was probably the worst game I've ever seen. I dont say that because Webb lost ...I say that because neither team played well. Webb was an absolute train wreck with what 9 turnovers or something ...and Carl couldnt capitalize like they should have . They also turned it over I think 4 times. It was just a bad game to watch. I came away from that game not knowing anything about either team except they both had decent defenses. The way Webb played that particular night offensively; almost every team in the COC would have beat them IMO

When Webb teams are firing on all cylinders they are super fun to watch. Don't know how far you are driving but it's worth it to check out Cardinal Stadium at least once.

Actually got to watch the week 1 CJ vs Webb game this year with my old head coach Alan Spencer which was pretty special. How many people can say they've watched a high school game with their old head coach just talking football and life. Also, having the webbies come up to him and ask his thoughts was pretty cool. Thinking this is the year I'll watch them play Carthage @home!

That sounds awesome! Also the atmosphere of Webb/Carthage games is like nothing else.
Alan was a Senior when I was a Freshman I think, he could run like a deer. one of the best athletes I have ever seen wear the Cardinal uniform and a good guy.

CJ scores no more than 14 and will be lucky to get that regardless of WC quarterback.
We can always just turn around and hand the ball to henderson and let him run over the people for 3-4 yards every time.

My thoughts would be the only way CJ wins is that they kept Webb under 10 points. Webb defense should be VERY good.
Oh you have no idea. The poster takes many forms but the questions are always the same!! Whats the stink about Class 4 Trinity? What is a check defense? These posts haunt almost every thread!!!
