What is the most wins or best season anyone can remember a coach having only to then get fired at the end of the year?

Chillicothe fired a coach after getting 4th and then 2nd at state in 1997. Lost 6 games in 2 years.

Getting fired in high school usually has very little to do with winning.
85 percent of an educators salary is for teaching. I coached 92 teams on
the high school level never had one evaluation about winning, but
what was my conduct and my players conduct. Did I do a good job
as an educator. It is high school coaching which has very little to
do with winning. I could of gone the whole season without a loss but
do a very poor job as a teacher I would be fired. High school coaches
spend all day teaching coaching is secondary.

I believe Coach Berry was 21-4 last year at Ellington, but did not get renewed.

that was coach snockingberg, I know I misspelled it, lost to them in the district championship those two years, and yes we are teachers first, but if you don't win you don't stay around for long

1996-97 season, Chillicothe Boys coach went 27-4 with a mostly Junior Class team, lost the title game by 5 points and his coaching contract was not renewed.
