Yeah, I kinda wondered about that as a "warm up drill" when I saw them doing that 2 weeks ago...

Pretty ironic that the indians took a gamble running the oklahoma drill. A betting line on it woulda been perfect

Haven’t heard how’s he doing but thank you for asking. I have no idea why they do it and I hope it stops after Hymer’s injury.

How is the player that got hurt doing the Oklahoma drill during warm ups.
He didnt get hurt during the Oklahoma drill. He got hurt the last play of warm ups before heading to the locker room. Reoccurring injury for the kid. Dislocated knee cap.

That still doesn't explain doing Oklahoma drills during warm ups! Even Coach Nickerson wouldn't make a bone headed decision like that!

The young man got hurt on the final play (on air) of pregame warm ups. I have seen pregame for the Indians and they DO NOT run an Oklahoma drill before the games. What they do is something called a 3 level drill. O-lineman blocking a D-lineman, TE/Back blocking a LB, and a WR blocking a Corner and a RB running the ball and reading blocks. The offensive players work on getting off the ball, proper steps and fits while the defensive players work on getting off the ball and getting off blocks. It is NOT the old school Oklahoma drill where kids just beat the tar out of each other. I have heard Coach McFarland speak about this and he makes some very valid points. The kids get excited about it and they get a little game speed contact prior to the game (1st time since Wednesday practice). When I listened Coach McFarland speak he was trying to increase the intensity and focus of the kids so they come out of the locker room before the game with some confidence and enthusiasm. He said that at times he felt his team came out flat and was searching for ways to increase his teams aggressiveness. From what I have seen they are doing nothing that puts a player in harms way, other than regular football activities (blocking, tackling and running) ... it is a very controlled drill with the coaches and team surrounding the drill and being enthusiastic.

What the heck has happened with Seneca this year? They are killing me in the Pick-em! Expected them to be very good this year with all the returning players. Defense doesn't seem to be able to stop anyone!

Tonights Seneca/MV game might be interesting then. When I saw MV play, their defense was pretty porous. Reeds ran on them at will, and 2 of their td's came through the air.

Nice clarification, here. Coach McFarland's impact is certainly showing and we, in Lamar, have a great deal of respect for him. Thanks for this.

I bet it will be a great game and a Shoot out! For Seneca it is hard to win a lot of games when your defense gives up 38 points per game.

They are finally figuring out they can’t run a two platoon team and are starting to get some of the younger studs on the field more.
