Santa Fe vs. Penney

It was physical, for a girls game. Not anything too out of the ordinary, though. Sante Fe obviously had their minds made up that they weren't going to get pushed around or intimidated by one player. They rotated about 4 different girls on Prather, trying to deny her the ball, and it was very effective. She still had a real nice game, but was not dominant. Sante Fe played a real good team game on both ends. Not sure about the rebounding numbers, but I thought Sante Fe competed real well on the boards. It was my first time seeing Sante Fe- I was pretty impressed by the frosh, #21. If she gets on a good strength program, she could be outstanding.

Penney lost their second leading scorer in the 2nd minute of the game. Senior post named First team all conference. She goes down and Penney has to replace her with two freshman off the bench. They missed her offense obviously to take pressure off Prather but undoubtedly they missed her on defense too. I will give credit to Santa Fe but would have liked to see how the game might have turned out with her in the game.

Yes, Senior post player Shelby Kruse got injured and tore her mcl in first minutes of 1st quarter. She is a great player for Penney in the post and is very consistent on both ends of the floor! I sure would've liked to have seen the outcome if she doesn't get injured in that game. In the district final vs. North Platte Shelby hit a three pointer that tied the game in overtime and had 17 points and was the glue going down the stretch for Penney in that game! Not taking anything away from Santa Fe either they won the game but I think with the Kruse girl in that game it would've made a huge difference and possibly a different outcome!

Very unfortunate. I was not able to attend the game but those that I have talked to said the Kruse girl's injury and an away from the ball offensive foul called on Prather when Penney was up semi-late in the fourth were the turning points in that game.

I was there as an interested observer- no dog in the fight. I do not recall the foul on Prather that you are alluding to. Sounds like you're hearing a sour-grapes viewpoint to me. There seemed to be plenty of sour grapes from the Hamilton Hornet folks that night. Seemed like the Hamilton player you are referencing, as well as the head coach took exception with most calls that did not favor their team.

I was there as well as an interested observer, the foul you are alluding to was definitely a bad call. I do believe that Penney actually played a good game without Kruse, pretty close game until the end. Tough way for them to go out. I know a lot of people on this board have been hard on Penney girls all year, but they had a really good season. Lost to Class 3 qtrfinalist Chillicothe by 2 in OT,lost to class 4 Lafayette by 4 or 5, lost to class 4 Kirksville and lost to N. Platte twice, once in OT by 2 and once in regulation by 3. Losses they later avenged by beating them twice, only two losses N. Platte had all year. So great season to the Lady Hornets.

Rufus for someone who was there just as an interested individual you sure seem to have an opinion made up of a certain girl on Penney team! LOL There are underlining thoughts in your statements it seems? Santa Fe won, To bad Penneys season ended like that though, they had a great shot getting to move on and possibly final 4.

If Rufus does have an already formed opinion, there are many that would agree it is a valid one. There's a line between physical and dirty for most people.
