I attended the SLUH @ St. Mary's game @ 1:00 PM today. St. Mary's was never in the game as the Jr. Bills won 61-50 . The Jr. Bills have four 6'7"-6'8" big men in their rotation and they have Brandon McKissic 6'3" @ guard. Brandon is one of the top three guards in St. Louis and will be playing for UMKC next year. I see SLUH and Webster as the two big hopes to defeat Chaminade. Chaminade and SLUH are in the same district and I picked SLUH last week to advance since the district is @ SLUH.
Undefeated Sikeston and St. Mary's ranked 1 and 3 in Missouri (Class 4 ) go down within two hours of each other. Sikeston losing to McCluer ( Now 8-5 but not ranked in St. Louis ) was a big surprise to me. McCluer is in the Sub. North conference have had trouble competing against Hazelwood Central, McCluer North and Pattonville. McCluer is now 8-4 and appear to be on a roll. Two of their defeats were to class 4 Jennings.
Rocket, You and I disagree on a bigger schedule for Sikeston but the SEMO Conference and the Zumwalts Tournaments will not prepare Sikeston for these quick athletic black teams when they are shooting well. The SEMO Conference is down this year, Class 1 Advance and class 2 Oran has proven that. Advance lost to Charleston by 6 but had a chance to win and class 2 Oran took Charleston into overtime before losing by one point.
I'm guessing Vashon ( Big-Big schedule ) will be # 1 in class 4 when the new polls arrive. Rocket, who are the big wins on the Sikeston schedule to date?
I'll post the Chaminade-Champaign Central score shortly.
