We have over 550 high schools in Missouri. These schools are placed in five classes according to enrollment by our ruling body, the MSHSAA. Rules have been in place for many years to support fairness for all schools. Some say our private high schools have an advantage because they can legally recruit students. These recruited students can try out for the private's sports teams and some not all make the team. High schools like SLUH, Chaminade and others have existed and played under MSHSAA rules for more then 75 years old but now appears to be coming under scrutiny. They are members of the MSHSAA and play under the same rules as our public schools except they have no boundaries and can recruit students from our public school districts.

Vashon, A public high school appear to coming under scrutiny as well because students all over St. Louis can apply if they have space. Some say this is not fair because the principal might give an advantage to athletes but this may be not factual.

Rocket, Train and Bucket may be on to something concerning advantages for some schools over another however to be credible if advantages are going on in your back yard, you must speak up and I don't see this happening. I am talking about Sikeston students enrolling @ Scott County Central after being cut from the Sikeston team without moving. If this going on, you must speak up because it's not fair to Advance, Clarkton, Risco, Winston and others.

Rocket, Bucket and Train, I am challenging you to deny the above rumors or state they are true. You guys have avoided the above question until now, here's your chance to promote fairness to all.

I know this has been discussed before but you appear to have amnesia. It is not Sikeston's job to blow the whistle on SCC….A kid transfers, says they’ve moved, it’s not Sikeston's job to stalk and run surveillance on where they live. The integrity of the receiving school may come into question, but why the school they are transferring from? There is a specific example of one kid that transferred that Sikeston did contest but I won't go into details on that.

MFloyd, I have read the letter sent to the MSHSAA that you are referring about. This was a few years ago but a Sikeston official did indeed " Stalk and run Sureillance " on a kid who was transferring out of of Sikeston. Oran and Sikeston did not succeed in making the kid in question ineligible to compete @ his new school. The difference was this player was a rotation player for the Bulldogs not someone who was cut from the team. MFloyd, have you read this letter?

The only way the MSHSAA can cut down on corruption and have a level playing field for all is for people to say " Enough is Enough. " When students transfers out of Sikeston, enrolls @ another school without moving is a serious problem. Sikeston must sign a transfer form stating the student is in good standing @ Sikeston and no recruiting was involved. It appears everyone in Sikeston knows what's going on with these players transferring to SCC but the Sikeston Administrator who signed the transfer forms. MFloyd, this is not fair competition for the class 1 schools who are competing with SCC. Don't you have any feeling for Advance, Clarkton, Risco, Winston and other competing schools in class 1 who do it the right way?

We have a public high school here in St. Louis who refused to sigh the " Transfer Form " of a student who wanted to change high schools. The AD said there was recruiting involved. The kid never played another minute of high school basketball. This players was a top 10 player in St. Louis.

MFloyd, Rocket Train and others, if you think the Sikeston transfers to SCC are OK, that's fine with me however I have a right to disagree as I think of all the small schools in Missouri who would be happy with a district championship. Some would talk about their district championship for years.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I know exactly what you're talking about with the Oran/Sikeston thing which was way back in 2001. The player transferred to Richland and he was not a rotation player at Sikeston. He was a JV member as a junior. Oran pursued it, not Sikeston, and he was allowed to play for Richland. Not sure why or how, but he was allowed to play despite evidence being provided that he had not changed residences.

As for the current situation, none of the players at SCC were cut from the team at Sikeston. Not a single one. All of them simply transferred out. One is the son of an assistant coach there. The other is the son of a teacher's assistant. That alone makes them immediately eligible. The other I'm not sure about but as I said, it is not Sikeston's duty to police this. A kid transfers out without with no problems and no conflict with the coaching staff, then that's fine. However, if a kid moves after butting heads or getting cut from the team, then that is a problem. This has not happened as you have stated except for one instance and Sikeston pursued it with MSHSAA.
