This would have been a good high school TV game for 2 top programs.

I was just thinking today.....if any webb game will ever be on espn this would be the one. Some outlets Have webb ranked as high as #9 in the country and Rockhurst in the top 50. However espn typically only aires games with elite recruits rather than good teams

Rockhurst has a Wisconsin rb. Webb had a Missouri lineman. That doesn't draw enough of a crowd i suppose

Webb City does not have airport big enough for Rockhurst and espn planes to land and park!

That sounds about right. I'm pretty sure that DGB's senior year, Hillcrest went down and played one of the Springdale school's and it was nationally televised for no reason other than DGB.

I don't know about Springdale but they played Class 3 Seneca. He looked unstoppable on ESPN against the Indians 5'9" corner. It was a bit of a different story when he played Webb later in the Playoffs. He had something like 35 total yards?

If by vanilla he means playing good assignment defense he is probably right.

Honestly I don't know that either team will score a lot. I expect it to be more of a defensive game than last year.

Correct me if I am wrong but WC only gave up 14 points last year and zero after the 1st quarter! Can WC be more defensive than they were last year?

NO. LOL Simple enough? After watching the cTOWN game I am much more concerned then last year. I think I picked a three score game last year but admittingly we caught all the right breaks. Such as the stolen interception by Kiante. You cant draw those up on Madden. I know JROD shows his hand as little as he can each week and I appreciate his style but GOD I hope he was holding back alot last week. A loss against ROCK wouldnt be the end of the world but not lying it would suck. I was suprised by our lack of speed on offense. Maybe Im not giving cTOWN enough credit for their D but we looked slow on O (RBs) and small upfront on D. Weve had Championship years were we were small just not sure we played teams that could field players the ROCK puts on the field. WEBB 24-21

I feel like you are being politically correct! That's not the 3-Peat I know! I watched the WC vs Carthage game on Hudl and Beatwriter and I both think Carthage schemes their defense for Webb as well as anyone! 31-0 with a defensive TD! Then I watched Rock vs Rockbridge and there is a dramatic drop in QB play from last year! Unless the film lies, I will take WC by 21!

We ran the dive right/left 40 times last week. The first half against big defensive lineman will always be that way until JRod can wear them down. Then, the bus lanes will open up. Makes for a not so energetic games on offense but it usually shows in the win count.

Come on B, like Trump I'm not a huge politically correct fan. I haven't seen totals from the cTOWN game but doubt our rushing average per carry was very high. Also we got a few not many but a few breaks like the cARTHAGE dropped pass in the end zone. Won't put out the name or # of the dback in coverage but he had no idea where the ball or possibly the receiver was at, just a straight up drop. cTOWN also moved the ball pretty effectively to the point we had to bring Castila in to slow them down. And oh my did he. Not sure if you saw his first tackle but he was double teamed. The running back was going around his right side with two lineman in his chest he reached around to the running backs right shoulder pad and brought him down with just his right arm. Dude is a beast. I just think last year we caught every break. If the ball it the ground we got it. Feel like we will need more of the same tonight. Hope not, he'll I hope we smoke them just feel the line is going to have all they can handle and then some.

Peat, I agree with your assessment of tonight. I think it will take a tremendous effort, a clean game, and maybe a few breaks to get the win against a highly motivated Rock team.
FWIW... last season WC gave up 147 yards rushing (43 carries) to a very young Carthage team. While it appeared not so good at times last week WC gave up 102 rushing yards (40 carries) to a Carthage team returning 4 of 5 lineman and a stud quarterback. What does that mean for tonight? Nothing, but some were questioning WC defensive effort against Carthage this year compared to last.

The key for WC is line play. Pretty simple if both lines play well they win, if not it will be a tough night.

I actually thought WC played better on both sides of the ball this year than they did against Carthage last year, especially on defense. The offense made enough plays last week to get it done and I do give some credit to what I think is going to turn out to be a pretty good Carthage defense this year but I think the line is going to have to improve from last week to have much success moving the ball.

Well the game didn't go very much like I thought. I expected a lot of defense and not that much offense.

There were several players for WC that had big games but the O-line improved leaps and bounds. Huge effort by the Cards tonight.

Have a game Tyson! Kid was a great leader tonight. Webb looked pretty good. Rock couldn't stop the run. Should be fun at Har-Ber next week.
