Republic

Sorry, you guys are correct. No one has been hired, but the top candidate is from out of state.

I can't imagine Republic is THAT bad. They've got great facilities and I would assume pretty good talent pool. Community seems pretty engaged and supportive.

If the expectation is to win the COC that is fun to say but not at all realistic. I would guess the starting expectation is just to compete which they haven't done much of. Get out of the yearly race to the bottom. That seems do-able. Not easy but do-able. They aren't going to beat Webb City. And wins against a few others will be hard to come by. So they are going to have to start with making sure they win every game against the bottom of the pack and at least split with the middle of the pack. That's a good starting goal to me.

It's a little like Carthage wanting to compete in COC basketball. There are at least 5 games that are guaranteed losses and if they are lucky they might go .500 among the rest. They are competing against teams that are just miles and miles ahead of them. Getting to their level in a sport that hasn't been a focus or generated excitement in the community is tough.

Completely well thought out and a rational response. Heck, it even seems like SMART goal for the Republic position. You must've never been a parent, or board member, or both?

That is just a tough place to coach football. Basketball is so prominent there. Hard to change that culture.

People just dont understand that the product on the field is not always a reflection of the coach. Look at the patriots, 20 years of brady/belichek and 9 superbowls. brady leaves and bam the patriots suck. If your players just aren't that good, its difficult to produce results. but remember everyones kid is the best to ever step onto the turf so that cant be it. In good years its the players, in bad years its the coach.

I think you are correct about those should be the expectations but apparently they are not. Judging by the list of coaches that they have been through so far. All of those coaches have the reputation of being able to win everywhere else but had struggles at Republic. Looking at the resumes from those coaches, I would say they know how to create a culture and win, but that wasn't good enough at Republic

Looks like Republic is set to have the highest paid coach in the COC.

Unless J-Rod makes over $100K, I think the new Republic coach will be the highest paid.

On a final note to all you newbies out there, remember this. When powerful board members lead the firing charge, they will spare no expense when it comes to hiring time.

Here is how the COC paid coaches around a year ago, So Nixa may have moved up the list with thier new hire? In terms of dollars I would say Carthage is getting the biggest bargain per victory, Carthage is always right there challenging Webb. CJ might be over spending to be a .500 team...

Webb $101,000
CJ $92,000
Joplin $81,000
Neosho $80,000
Nixa $80,000
Ozark $77,000
Branson $77,000
Repo $76,000
Carthage $75,000
Willard $73,500

Buck basically got CJ into the COC in the first place. CJ is also the smallest school in the league by a decent margin.

All I am saying is dollar per dollar who is getting the most wins out of thier staff, Highly paid coaches don't always add up to wins....but also doesn't mean things are bad either in the program. Jabinoah is bragging about having the highest paid coach in the COC....they might when it is all done... but that doesn't mean it will add up to wins either, and will Republic be happy?

Honestly I do think overall Carthages coaches do more with a lot less athletically.
Carthage has a large minority population that drives up their overall enrollment numbers, bumping them into larger classifications. But that don't necessarily help overall in athletic numbers. That is what has impressed me most about Carthage they win at a high level consistently basically being short handed. What was Buck able to do at Carthage?

Look at Joplin and what Jasper has done....did Buck have the same success while he was there?

Jabinoah you must be the "powerful board member" you definitely have the inside scoop. Tell us who it is, we are all on pins and needles here!
If they're paying 100k plus that narrows the list of candidates considerably.

If Webb City had been bumped to class 5 a few years earlier CJ would possibly have 1 or more state titles under Buck. The fact that he had multiple years under Buck being ranked number 2 but losing to Webb in districts makes it weird to evaluate him.

To be the best you have to beat the best....
Buck has never gotten past Webb ..did he even beat them when at Carthage or Joplin?

I have no idea. I didn't know anything about him then. I will say if he gets a .500 season out of CJ next year it will be a miracle.
