Recruits

Incarnate is stupid good.. if a team in the state can keep it under 15 their coach should receive a raise.

I would have to say I doubt the 3 in 5 comment but maybe. It is what it is. If MSHSAA allows it there is no reason to worry about it. Must be nice.

What if a strafford admin was on the Mshsaa transfer board in the recent past? Would that stimulate the Q side of this?

No and no. You eluded that Strafford did something against the rules. You want to elaborate or are you just another hater? Is your kid on a team that can’t beat Strafford?........

No my kids are past the age for high school basketball. Just someone who has been around the high school sports scene for awhile and understands how the game works on and off the court. Sure technically speaking in the big picture Strafford did nothing wrong. But we both know there is a whole different scene that goes on, one where people do anything that is needed to get that next player. Certain schools and coaches develop reputations for such activities. Strafford is now securely on that list. If you choose to ignore such realities then that is on you and does not make me a hater.

So, did the school or coach offer something to convince a transfer to move? I’ve been around too and it seems many want to pile on Strafford because they win. Countless other schools in sw mo have had transfers. Some have won, some havent , but because Strafford has been dominant, they get the criticism. If you build it, they will come right? 3 transfers in 5 years is hardly cause for jealousy, resentment- whatever it is. I can give you a list of schools that have had more transfers than that but they didn’t win. Maybe Strafford and the kids there know how to win??? Maybe programs in the area should just get better.... get better coaches.....? Plenty of larger schools around that have pathetic records year after year. My kids would have loved to have better coaches who knew how to win. Politics is a bitch.

Strafford actively recruited MULTIPLE players through the Missouri Magic program.
Strafford started winning when the Frank girls got in HS. That was 6 years ago. Before that they were the same as everyone else using hometown talent. So relax with the get better and get better coaches cuz a decade ago strafford won 10 games.

I’m very familiar with the Magic program and only one player who played Magic came to Strafford- the Catholic kid. We all know Strafford became solid when Frank’s came. Some of the Strafford kids played Magic in HS. They were in HS before they played for Magic. So “relax” with your notion Magic kids were pulled to Strafford. Strafford will dominate for the next several years and not because of transfers. They came to Nixa a few weeks ago and other schools with multiple transfers or “recruits” couldnt touch them. Save the hate for other causes. People are moving everywhere.

Maybe you are thinking of the wrong kids.. Catholic recruited... or had two transfers who were both Magic Players in 2014. After that failed miserably, they both just happened to transfer to the same school again- Kickapoo. That’s when Poo won state. Of course politics, jealousy and an injury destroyed all that so they only won one.

Ask Sadie Chisum at evangel or Karlee Holland at Three Rivers if they and their parents were approached about transferring to Strafford. If practice gear was made with their names on it.

Lakeballs lives in an alternate bizzaro world. He is clearly connected to strafford in some way and takes it personally what is being said. Oh well... does not change the reality. Hoopsquad is dead on, and there are more than just the 2 he referenced who have been recruited.

I’m not connected to anyone. I know people and know of programs. Just curious why so many wanna criticize only the team that wins.... I guess I’m in an alternative world. I’m sure no other players or schools or coaches have said “hey come play with us”. I guess people are being hypnotized and you should definitely call MSHSAA and report it. From what I see, people make their own decisions and sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. So, if it’s not on the “up and up”, why don’t you call MSHSAA? We all know what a great job they do!

Who ever said no other schools do it? Lots of them do it, it still does not make it right. Some people do move for legitimate reasons. But in these situations most of them don't. You answered your own question about MSHSAA, they don't care about most of this and they all know it goes on as well. They will claim they are against it, but you know.

I agree with you on that. MSHSAA puts very little effort out. Moving private schools up a class was at least a positive step, but of course, then many public schools got bumped up when they went to 6 classes. When Barstow had multiple players that lived in Kansas and it was allowed, it was made clear that anything goes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

it’s always mind blowing to me that people will go tho such great lengths for their kid to be on a “better” team or play for a “better” coach. If I looked for another job every time things didn’t go my way, I would be working at a new place weekly if not more. I’m more impressed by good players who stay through the lean years and make their team better than people expected them to be. I guess many players now have the NBA mentality. I’m not mad at Strafford, it’s what MSHSAA has allowed to be created at many schools in many sports.

Barstow having kids in Kansas is no different than Ezial Elliott at John Burroughs when he lived in Illinois

CM, seldom do I find myself agreeing totally with part of a post and disagreeing with another part. First, I do agree and I do admire those very talented kids who remain with their programs and work and compete hard and continue to improve their skill sets through lean years when, in some cases, they could have moved to greener pastures. Secondly, however, scapegoating MSHSAA for allowing (programs) to be created at many schools in many sports amuses me because you, me and all other patrons of all school districts are MSHSAA. But for us, collectively, MSHSAA does not exist. Now, I will be the first to admit that some of the decisions that our elected representatives to the governing body and some of the decisions that employees of the organization make are head-scratchers. Nevertheless, they are us by delegation until we replace them. It is also noteworthy that many of their decisions are guided, even mandated, by federal and state laws because of the money trail. In other words, local control is becoming more and more limited. I will continue this rant in a later post. By the way, I respect your opinion but I do think an honest and open debate leads to the best way to achieve change.

We don't have much say, yet that comes up every year we are MSHSAA. We can make suggestions but it may not go through. I knew a kid that played for 3 schools in four years. Unless the school that the kid is leaving says it's for athletic reasons much won't happen. If you say for athletic reasons still much happen if the family moves to that school district.

I sincerely had no idea that I had anything to do with MSHSAA outside of paying my admission to state level tournaments. I’ve never been asked to vote for any representative of MSHSAA. I’ve never been asked to vote on a rule/guideline nor have I been asked my thoughts. I have however been told that the process of obtaining eligibility for transfer players isn’t that difficult. I wasn’t going to say anything earlier but to me this makes an unfair advantage to those schools who “deal with the hand they are dealt” MSHSAA is the governing body and should do all they can to keep an even playing field in all sports and activities.

How would most really know when the last one was for the entire state? It’s not as though MSHSAA posts this information 🤷

No kidding. I personally know of 5 from last year. One was a JV kid transferring from NCA to Willard. There are dozens and dozens every year. All the family has to do is go to MSHSAA first and they’ll slide it through. It’s not difficult if you play the game.
