Rational for Class 5 being the catch-all over Class 1?

Travel reasons. Class 5 schools are pretty much going to be in 3 areas - St. Louis, Kansas City or Southwest Missouri. Class 1 is spread out already. You thin some teams out and you would have even larger districts geographically than you already do.

It was the way the majority of schools voted at the time.

I have an idea...why not do class 5 as catch all in one cycle and then one the next? What about putting the bottom 64 in one, next 64 in two. Top 32 in 6, next 64 in 5, next 64 in 4, and have class 3 the catch all? This is just one scenario but any class could be the catch all if you set it up that way...would really live up the system IMO.

I really don't care but what I do feel like is important is that we are giving schools similar chances. If you move the catch all it would move teams in classes a lot!! I think this would be nice. Many teams are stuck at the bottom of a class or some teams are fortunate to sit at the top of their class every single season knowing where the cut off is. This would eliminate that and create a lot of excitement as to classes and districts each year.

The only way to really increase parity in Class 1 is to move Valle up to Class 2 . Otherwise if Class 1 or Class 5 is the catch-all it won't make a lot of difference.

At the rate things are going the last few years we will soon be back to 5 classes with Class 5 and 6 being rolled back together.

There are several schools starting programs, which will help, Bayless, Doniphan, Forsyth, Clever, etc. McAuley Catholic is allegedly only going 8 man for this cycle. Wouldn't mind it going back to 5 Classes though.

Just looking at the disparity in enrollment it would benefit every class, but Class 4 the most if Class 1 was the catch all.

Nothing wrong with 6 classes. Almost every state has smaller classes in the top class. I like 32 in 6. I just think it would be neat to see a different class be the catch all every year. It would make things interesting.
