Rankings

I was surprised Nixa and Republic weren't even getting votes. Carl Junction is the only COC team getting votes but they shouldn't be. Glendale is pretty good.

You mean the Top 3 teams in Class 5 are all private schools? No wayyyyy

And the top schools in 4 & 6 are also privates?
Nobody saw this coming

I didn't realize Cape Notre Dame dropped to class 4. Didn't they get 3rd in class 5 last year?

I'm genuinely surprised that NONE of the top 3 Class 5 schools got bumped to 6.. you could make an argument that 2 of them should have been..

Cape Notre Dame finished 4th @ State last year, lost to CJ in semis and lost to WP in 3rd Place game. but got bounced early in the playoffs the two years prior so they probably did have points fall off which is why they’re back in 4

El Do and Fair Grove

West Plains and Nixa.

Definitely interested in those 2 games.
I will tune into the WP/Nixa game online tonight but ever since they’ve started using Hudl and not YouTube there has been any announcing I believe and the stream itself is of lower quality.

I think by seasons end, Womack will have them where they need to be but with losing 5 of their top 7 from last years team (graduated 4 of them, 1 just isn’t playing for whatever reason)

You’ve got Lawson & Joyner and a bunch of former JV/frosh players from last year.
Probably the least experienced group they’ve had on this run the last 3-4 years.

I think Nixa wins this by double digits because of depth.

I agree Nixa should win by 10+

Looking over the schedule for tonight a few other decent games to keep an eye on.

Glendale and Clever
Alton and Willow
Rog and Forsyth

Willow is on the rise.
They’ve got the soph Jones at PG and she has handles and is just a good basketball player.

A few other Sophs Stuart(5’9) isn’t the best player on the team but is probably the best all around athlete and then another soph who is 6’1. Willow will do better than most people thought they would this year and I look for them to be better than they’ve been in a long time when that soph group is seniors(as long as they all stay out)
They’ve also got a 6’1 freshman who’s been playing a lot as well.

So they’ve got a lot of size in the post. One of the top 2 guards in the conference, but are just REALLY young.

Don’t know enough about those other two teams yet to really say anything.

yeah I agree they should be a team to watch the next couple years. I am hoping to get to the Grove Holiday tournament this year and they are one of the teams I want to see.

I see them finishing 4th in SCA, I hope I’m wrong, but as much potential as they have, they’re just really inexperienced with an inexperienced head coach.

I would say that is pretty fair. No one is touching Thayer. So they will be 1. 2 should probably be Liberty but they have a brand new coach as well that is even more inexperienced and young. Grove and Willow will be in that 3-4 spot. Grove has a very experienced coach so that would give them the edge. So Grove may jump up to that 2 spot. After those top 4 teams the rest of the SCA is bad bad.

Everything you said is how I see it as of now as well.
But who knows. It’s easier to figure out where things are headed around early January.

But that’s a pretty good assessment of how it should play out as things stand now.

I forgot that Willow lost by 22 to Alton just last week in the border tournament. Will be interesting to see how they respond tonight at home.

I watched some of those games online. It was a closer game than 22 points. Kinda got away late. Alton is still the favorite I am sure.

But Poplar Bluff who hasn't won a district in a while got bumped up to class 6. Go figure.

That was based on enrollment. Cape is private.
If it's based on enrollment why did the P.B. boys stay in class? I've heard every argument as to why the girls were bumped up but none of them have made any sense. If the issue in girl's basketball is that some small schools don't have a team pushing teams up a class ain't gonna help that.

Because some schools don't have girls basketball. Fewer teams means some schools will end up in different classes.

Doesn’t matter for Class 6. It’s the largest 64 schools. Well, the largest teams to fill to 64 after the private success ratio has been done. Thats the difference here. Not the amount of teams. The amount of private schools in Class 6 is different between boys and girls.

You are wasting your time AC
You sir have yet to explain to me how raising a class 5 girl's team with no succcess factor to class 6 does anything to help the numbers issue of small schools not having girls basketball and 2 team districts.

Fake news. It has been explained to you multiple times by me and others, yet you are either too dumb or too stubborn to understand.

Poplar Bluff girls have been class 6 since they went to 6 classes in 2020. They have always been in the largest class going back 20 years. They have never been bumped up.

Then why are the boys not in class 6? The girls and boys have always been in the same class but now they are not, the boys did NOT drop a class.
