Check with DESE or MHSAA. I believe with the attendance of a coaching class and a sports medicine class (and passing the test for both),a district may use a non-teaching person for the sole duties of coaching. These classes cost about $80.00 each and district policy determines who pays for them. The test are from American Sport Education Program. Of course, it is up to the district to do all the backround/security checks and to determine if the individual is competent to coach the sport.
