No look again...its the semi for both....class 2 plays final on fridayBecause on Friday, Class 1 is playing their state championship games, while Class 3 is the semifinal games.
You are correct they are staying with the same rotation as they had the previous years at Mizzou.My guess is they are sticking with the same rotation they had between Hearnes and Mizzou arena where it rotated which games were played in the other gym. Hammons seats almost 9000 I believe
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Their is a change in schedule this year. For the last several years Class 1,2, and 3 played semifinals games on Thursday then Friday third place games, and then Saturday championships. Does anyone know why MSHSAA changed the schedule around this year?
I was just thinking about the possibility chances of standing room only. Before jqh ...Hammons held the final 4 in the early 1990s and it couldnt hold the large class finalYou are correct they are staying with the same rotation as they had the previous years at Mizzou.
There is more to do in Springfield...home of Bass Pro for instance and close to Branson...Springfield is a great option to Columbia and is about 50 miles to arkansas~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yo....... You are correct...For whatever reason HSHSAA has moved the class 2 championship games to FRIDAY... BS.!.. The championship games should be contested on SATURDAY..(.)
Another good reason for only FOUR classes...
1-2 one weekend 3-4 one weekend... Semis
on Friday..... Championships on Saturday....
AND while i'm in a pissedoffish mood...moving
the final-four from Columbia (center of MO) to Springfield (nearly in Arkansas) is bullcrap...
Mound City (near Canada) will travel over 4 hours in a school bus... C =|~
Oh I definitely agree with 4 classes DogPa...4 PUBLIC classes, and 2, 3, 10, or however many private classes they want to have.
All the SEMO Teams, and their fans, have always had travel nearly 5 hours to Columbia while teams like Harrisburg and any teams from Jeff City or Columbia had it in the their back yard. Hayti is dang near in Tennessee. Time for a change.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These decisions seem to be rarely made based on what is best for teams or fans, either one. They are made for financial reasons.MSHSAA or Springfield/MSU people botched this one. Always before you could watch all 6 boys semi games in one day (Thursday). Same with girls. 3rd place on Fri. Champ on Sat. Simple. I’m sure there were complaints of an extra night stay, but seems minimal when playing for a state champ! Plus, I’d think as a coach you’d love to have a day to prep and watch film. Just a bad, bad job on this one.
Makes too much sense for it to ever be enacted.
I think it might be for financial reasons for the smallest class schools to only be coming up with enough money to stay one overnight instead of two overnights. Being as I’m from Walnut Grove when it was in Columbia we would have to have a fund raiser during the week before the Final 4 to pay for rooms and meals for our players and coaches. The past two years we had both of our teams there so we would need to raise a lot of money in a short time to be able to send them. I think we raised in the 10,000 dollar range via a pie and cake auction. So I get the reasoning if that’s why they changed the dates. Just Food for Thought.Has to be for financial reasons that I don't see. It sure doesn't make sense to me from a coaches or fans vantage point in my opinion.
I agree I don’t understand why the larger classes were sent to play in Hammons Student Center. HSC holds around 9000I was just thinking about the possibility chances of standing room only. Before jqh ...Hammons held the final 4 in the early 1990s and it couldnt hold the large class final
This town supports there teams like no other that I have ever seen. Mshsaa use to pay for the teams to stay in hotels and for all of there meals then they stopped and left it up to the schools to pay for. So smaller schools that are financially strapped really struggle sending there teams.$10G? Did your teams stay at the Hilton? That is a lot of jackola. Looks like they should use part of the funds they take in to offset the stay at state for all schools. Doesn't make sense that any school should have to make that much of a sacrifice. Ridiculous that they keep all that money from District through finals and cannot fund the rooms at least. Little NCAA I guess.
Maybe they should hold the tournament in Dyersburg.
Guys, it’s money. All championships should be in central mo. But mshsaa finds ways to make their money, new official basketballs every couple years, charging crazy amounts of money to have displays at championships, bidding out events, etc. all that being said, I think Springfield will do a great job hosting the event.There is more to do in St Louis or Kansas City than Springfield so your point sucks.
I don’t think Mizzou wanted to deal with it anymore honestly.Guys, it’s money. All championships should be in central mo. How about eliminating 3rd place games? That’d eliminate some costs too........Until the last couple years MSHSAA
paid for rooms of teams 50 miles or more
away from Columbia...! So why the change..? If the buget is tight I would
suggest they consider cutting back on the endless meal tickets and catering offered to
the many people that can most afford it.
Nothing beats the intrigue and drama of a loser's bracket game.How about eliminating 3rd place games? That’d eliminate some costs too.
dont think that had anything to do with it, Springfield just put in a better bid... besides if that were the case they would not have given Springfield such a long contract.i heard they moved due to mu women thinking they would have a home game at the time of mshsaa championships...not sure if that is true but makes sense
Talked to AD why the switch.
Went to Springfield because they offered a better package.
Also With it not being centrally located. More overnight stays for school's fans further away. Compact to 2 days. Also was concerned about hotel inventory compared to columbia.
And way, way, way more Chinese restaurants, with all your favorite local varieties of Chicken Strips in Sugar Sauce.Hotels? I'm pretty sure Springfield has far more hotel rooms than Columbia. You're talking about 120,000 Vs. 170,000 population.
Sounds like you are a regular. You better bring your piggy bank and chow down.And way, way, way more Chinese restaurants, with all your favorite local varieties of Chicken Strips in Sugar Sauce.
