QB sack vs tackle for loss

I think this discussion has been had before, but is anytime the QB tackled behind the LOS a sack? Looking online I have seen both yes and no. Common sense would be (to me anyways) that if a QB is say tackled for loss on an option play, that would be a tackle for loss not a sack. Just curious what most coaches do on here stat wise.

We always went with your common sense approach.
 
Going by the defensive stats cited by most coaches at all conference and all state voting, I think he gets a tackle, sack, a tackle for loss, and 6 of his teammates get an assist for being in the picture.

So true.

How could it possibly matter?? Only game I saw your guys play they never touched the QB much less tackled him,,,,248 yards rushing by Chapman’s still a record???good lord lol
