Be gentle...did mild research of returners along with some basic Hudl hi-lites and roster matching, erred on the side of the "usuals"

Class 1
1. Penney
2. Monroe City
3. Valle
4. Thayer
5. Hayti
6. Wellington
7. Skyline
8. South Shelby

10. Princeton
Others: Marceline, Westran, Fayette, East Buchanan, Midway

Class 2

2. Trinity Catholic
3. Lutheran North
4. Mountain Grove
5. Malden
6. Caruthersville
7. Lawson
8. South Callaway
9. Lexington
10. Mountain View Liberty
Others: Cardinal Ritter, Summit Christian, Brentwood, Ava, Hermann

Class 3
1. Monett
2. Maryville
3. Blair Oaks
4. Chillicothe
5. Park Hills
6. McCluer South-Berkeley
7. Lutheran South
8. Mexico
9. Richmond
10. Oak Grove

7. Hazelwood Central
8. Ft. Zumwalt West
9. Francis Howell
10. Lee's Summit West

I would put Harrisonville at # 8 or # 9. Gone are: Brandon Eickhorst 1,144 yards passing. Morgan Selemaea 1,387 yards, 20 touchdowns. Joe Snooks, senior, 31 catches, 720 yards, 5 touchdowns. Nathan Kreimeyer, 123 tackles (39 solo), Michael Messer, 118 tackles (31 solo.)

They will subside to their normal position. In the upper echelon, but with a school pop of 870- 891, unable to get enough players to play with the larger Class 4 schools.

Kearney: Have no idea. But given the track record, top 4.

Webb: Back on top.

Parkway North and Ladue...the rest of the top 4.

Class 6 love Blue Springs in this area this year (#1 in metro most likely). Class 5 Fort O and Liberty have elite RBs back (Iloilo and Rawie). Game of the year mark it down will be Liberty-Liberty North. Class 4 big unknowns in this area but I still lean toward Platte County IF IF they can get over the Kearney hump. Another one other side of the state to watch you have is Ladue Horton Watkins. Very impressed with them last year and many stars are back. Class 3 hope you are right about Chilli. Have a feeling this is the year the MEC could start to catch Maryville. Class 2 the train rolls on. Class 1 looks about right but Valle likely will be playing with a big chip on their shoulders. Just 24 days to go!!!!!

KTown has a real good RB returning and better overall returning numbers (how could they be worse) than last year but new coaching staff is a real mystery.

With all due respect Kearney lost more than that last year and went back to the title game. I forget his name but I believe #7 for HVille is back and he was very impressive in the aforementioned in Springfield last November.

I would be very surprised if Valle is not back on top of Class 1 this year.

I thought Lutheran North graduated a big class but who knows how good the recruiting class was. I think Class 2 is Lamar and Trinity and then a huge gap to the rest of pack.

Curious to see how Monett does this year. I think the winner between them and Cassville makes a deep run.

Webb roles.

I'm glad to see a real discussion going no matter who thinks who should be where! - Malden lost their coach to Kennett and I dont know what they have coming back, so that may play a factor. Mtn. Grove lost several linemen but do return what should be the QB of the year in the SCA. So we shall see with them. Hope that helps :)

I feel like a Lamar/Trinity rematch is inevitable. I heard rumblings that the way things are set up this year that might happen in the semi's rather than the championship? I don't follow the post season scheduling structure enough to know for sure. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

With all due respect...as I mentioned before, Harrisonville is in the lower quartile in size in Class 4. They can't replenish talent like the big boys of Class 4, with 30-35% more students. See above for major talent that moved on from H.

Correct. Districts 1/2 vs 3/4 this year.

Monett will be young this year, Graduation hit the offensive side hard, a lot of talent graduated I think I saw some statistic like over 4,000 of offensive production graduated from last years team. So they will have to have a lot of new faces needing to step up this year if they want to have a run like last year. Defense fared much better but still have some holes to fill but should be the strength of the team. I think whoever comes out of our district will have a good chance of winning the state title, alot of teams have some good talent coming back.

Harrisonville may have the best D-Line in the state coming back. Will have a very stingy defense, possibly better than last year. Offense has some slots to fill, but they do have a couple very good running backs. Injuries will be the key, it is an uphill battle for smaller schools in Class 4, (hopefully the state will do something with this in the future) which makes what Harrisonville did last year that much more impressive.

No Spring River teams in class 1, probably deservedly. If I may throw in a couple, Pierce City lost 3 starters, has the conference defensive poy returning, off of a winning season last year. Sarcoxie has the conference offensive poy at qb returning, and gets PC at home on their beautiful new field. Both teams could do some class 1 damage.

Yeah, whole thing is kind of off the tracks if you have Harrisonville at one with all they lost. Hard to read it and take you seriously after that.

Maryville lost a lot. Still have playmaker Dowis. Will win a lot of games but no power house.

Polls are opinions. Opinions never win championships. Harrisonville wasn't even a top 10 state ranked team going into the playoffs. 12-3 Class 4 State Champions! So much for polls.
It is just opinion, but I still enjoy seeing what other people think teams are going to do and why they think that. Then it's fun to see teams make a run that weren't on the lists.

Could this finally be the year someone not named Maryville wins the MEC? Another team you don't have listed who returns some nice offensive talent is Lafayette (St. Joe).

Kearney's two titles under Jones (2009 and 2015) were absolutely unexpected especially season before last. This year my "off the pace" team is Grain Valley in C4. One thing is almost certain it will be a pretty wide open class just like last year.

Would love to see the SRVC take a step or two forward. I agree both teams you mentioned are on the rise but likely not in the discussion for top 10.
Noticed other than Midway in the "others" category, no WEMO teams either. Would be surprised if no SRVC or WEMO teams don't step up.

Maryville wins the summer every summer in C3. Plus a couple new 'move ins' should help

Liberty north is quietly going about their business this summer. liberty seems a little distracted. They have about 6 twitter accounts that appear to be run by overzealous parents. Too ra-ra for me.

Grain Valley should be tough. Their offense will be stellar, but they have 1 stud on defense, and then a bunch of youngsters. So they'll likely have to win shootouts early.

This will be a very good year for RBs in the KC metro and Liberty has one of the top contenders for the Simone in Rawie. How North adjusts to Jones' coaching style and complex offense will be key for them. Just like his first year here in KTown they probably will be one of those "off the pace" teams flying late. Their opener hosting Staley is THE must watch game to open the season.

I suspect Liberty to be undefeated the way their schedule sets up, Rawie is very fun to watch-kid plays hard. Liberty North to very salty by year end, C4 team I've been hearing about in the summer to consider is Smithville. and like every year this is the year St Pius turns it around.

For you guys that appreciate information on KC area teams. Having seen William Chrisman up close and personal, competing against some formidable programs, WC certainly passes the eye test. I came away from one scrimmage particularly impressed with their up front personnel. I think they're really darn good and for pre-season ranking rumors, they should be in the conversation as a top 10 contender.

Agree they could be good, having Carson in the D Line will be tough for a lot of teams to handle at that class. But they lost so much on Offense, as well as a great Coach in Coach Horn. That will be a lot to replace.

anyone have anything on Fort O? Hope they get back, always loved the way they play. tough kids, no fluff, and they play on grass. Parents in the 'burbs would never let their kids play on grass. egos couldn't handle it.

As much as I want to say Staley in a cakewalk to state, i can see FO giving them trouble, not so much Liberty and LN. Staley has a bunch coming back, but the kids they lost were really good. no way they are as good at RB, LB, and OL this year.

Fort has one of the top RBs in the KC metro returning (Iloilo). No way they are as mediocre as last season, a likely program outlier. Staley has a darned good TE coming back and their D should be very salty but will have to see how the graduation of Simone winner Ross affects them. I do expect the KC side to regain the title in this class regardless of who advances to the semis.............
