Prediction

Time will tell. I am not ashamed to be a MM fan. He will be tested this year. Mo didn't do much to improve the team so our young core has to be good. The oldies are coming off injuries and need to be good for this to work. Lots of questions but Leake has been good. I can't wait for opening day!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Birds!.

They don't have a SS and Wong has trouble with routine ground balls. If Holliday actually plays some 1B, Leake, an extreme ground ball pitcher, will pull his hair out.

I don't thump my chest about Matheny. I just can see how ridiculous it is to bash a guy who in his first four years has faced his fair share of losing the teams best players to injury, and still do well. But these are the same people who will complain no matter what.

I'm a Showalter fan. But that line made me laugh. "Not a great overall record...BUT.....ill make excuses for him because I like his style."

Roster composition isn't an excuse. It's just fact. The premise that all teams are created equal is about as accurate as the belief all students not being left behind (NCLB)...I can't say it enough, I just don't think calling a guy average-ish is bashing him. I think it's an entirely realistic view of where he is as a manager. My worry with MM is sort of the same thing as FFH when he was MU's basketball coach. The things he seemed not very good at, never seemed to get better. If he had been managing 20 years and had no real support system (bench coaches and upper management) consistency, then you kind of live with it. But that's really not the case with MM. My hope definitely remains that he'll be able to improve upon those things this season.

Speaking of predictions...lets go with record and NL Central standing. I'll favorite the link and if someone will remind me, I'll bring it back at the ASB and end of the season time. I'll fire away...

86-76...2nd place in the Central behind the Cubs and in front of the Bucos.
Looking from across the state I wonder if all the hype (reminds me a bit of Washington last year) will get to the Cubs. Mind you there are few bigger Maddon fans than me just wonder about that..............and the fact Pittsburgh is getting almost NO attention. If they could ever get out of the gate fast I would like them to pull the upset and win the NL Central.

Cubs don't have a crap roster with a guy who should not have been a manager. If the Cubs had players like Werth, Uggla, Desmond, Reed Johnson, Lobaton, Clint Robinson, or den Dekker.....sure, they would be the 2015 Nationals

I dare you to find an easy out in the Cubs lineup that is not a pitcher or the occasional David Ross start

If you keep score like some die hards do during cubs games, you might want to buy pre-printed score sheets with 4-3 printed on them for 1/2 the atbats for your big big free agent signing. Bahaha. His swing sucks.

This time last year nobody thought the Nats roster was anywhere near crap. They underachieved horribly. As for the Cubs I merely point out (incidentally they are my second fave team behind the Royals) they are receiving the lion's share of preseason attention and deservedly so. In just a couple of weeks all the talk will start to become moot..........

Those guys were crap. That's why I never understood their hype. That's why I laugh at Desmond for turning down that money

As for the Royals......good luck to them. I don't see the Sox being an issue for them now hahahah

Funny you never said one word about how bad the Nats were at this time last year.

If they could ever get their fielding together the INDIANS would be a strong threat to KC. Other than them I don't see anyone challenging them in the AL Central.

Don't rule out Detroit... If they can stay healthy and their pitching is improved, they could be trouble. Verlander has thrown well this spring.

Should be a good division this season. Just a lot of ifs everywhere

I'll be sure to pass all baseball related thoughts through you. Clearly, you seem to be the cradle of all banal

Banal ??? I wasn't aware that this was Creative Writing 101... and I was responding to Hat. Oh well...maybe Ducky was right.

I know he has but they just look like a team past its prime. More than anyone they need Miggy to stay healthy for a full season somehow.
