Sullivan High School senior softball player Tianna Stockley died in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning. She was heading west on I-44 near the Stanton exit, lost control of her car, ran into the median barrier and overturned. She was not wearing her seatbelt. She was flown to St. Louis and dies of her injuries around 6am.
Tianna had signed a letter to play next year at SEMO on a full scholarship. A private candlelight vigil planned last night by the softball team turned into a community memorial as hundreds of students and community members showed up to express their support.
The St. James school and community offer up our prayers to the family, the softball team and the entire school.
