Why in the playoffs both teams dont get ball in ot, who cares how long game takes. Duck, I agree how can u line up offsides. GOAT, these QBs would been long retired without the rules that protect QBs today and allow ol to hold regularly. Johnny u called own plays and had 47 consecutive games with td, ol couldn't use hands to blk I know I'm old school.

I totally agree!

Belichick is the GOAT. Brady has enjoyed riding his coattails. Hell just yesterday he threw a pick with 54 seconds left to lose the game only to be baled out by the offsides call.

Brady is not even close to the greatest of all time. He's a one-dimensional player that has made the most out of the rules that he has to play under. He is the greatest of this flag football era. Put Brady in the 1970s and 1980s era and he would have washed out quickly. Fouts and Marino were as good or better passers. John Elway was an actual football player, that could take hits, make great decisions, and run with the ball if he had to.

Give me a break, any of those guys could have played then or now. Brady was playing before these rules came in, it's the NFLs way of showing they are making things safe.

Brady is the GOAT. None of the guys in the 60's/70's were hardly even close to these athletes today. Any comment to the contrary that is simple ignorance.
I know I know, I hear it all the time, these kids are not as big as my team when we played, we were vicious hitters, we were really fast, we were .......One I will agree with, "when we played we were far more fundamental than...."

I suppose that applies to the 80s too? Who is the current Bo Jackson? 4.13 in the 40, and could move, throw, and play two major league sports? Okay.

Oh man, I can not believe you could find one player that ....there are 53 on the rooster, 11 on the field. But you keep living in the BOw Jascsson area. (spellings were on porpoise)

Belichick is the greatest coach of all time. He won the Big Tuna two SBs. The Big Tuna never won one without him. Then he went to NE and has had the greatest run in history. Belichick game planned to upset an awesome Buffalo team. Belichick game planned to upset an awesome Rams team. Its all on Beli.

When Brady was out for the year, Belichick still went 11-5. Rodgers, Manning, etc could have done what Brady did. They didnt get to play for Belichick.

Brady only got really hit hard once all day yesterday and they called it roughing the passer. Brady has ridden the coattails of the smartest damn Coach ever.

In response to the original question, the the supposed “coin toss problem” of NFL overtime can be solved by playing defense (and with the rule change, your defense just has to be good enough to force a field goal).

So defense not only “wins championships”, but it can also beat a coin toss! (imagine that...)

Because in football you have to play defense if you want to win the game

Johnny U played in an era in which the league was barely integrated. Go look at the team pictures from the Baltimore championship teams in the 1950s. There have been several books written, including the autobiography of Vince Lombardi no less, about the lengths teams went to adopt quotas and exclusionary policies to appease their fans sensitivities.

Think about this: the Washington Redskins didn't have a single minority player until 1962. They were literally fielding an all white team in a nearly all white league throughout much of Johnny Us career.

It took the merger of the NFL and AFL to begin full integration as the AFL had much more diverse rosters.

So, to be frank, I have a hard time nominating players from that era as the greatest of all time when so many were purposefully excluded, especially in a sport that is now largely dominated by minorities.

Beyond that, it’s amazing to me that people constantly refer to those in that era as “tough” as though the antiquated rules somehow makes up for the fact they weren’t tough enough to compete against the best players. The best players were purposefully excluded.

Say what you will about Tom Brady, love him, or hate him, he at least competed with and against the best players of his era. Minorities aren't sitting at home because the Washington Redskins won't hire them.

I agree with 80% of that but you can scheme and motivate all you want you still have to have players to execute and Tom Brady has a champions heart and a stone cold killer mentality towards winning and you cannot coach that. You either have the Michael Jordan competitive to a fault gene or you don’t. I think Belicheck still would have SB’s and I think Brady would still be an all time great. But the two need each other to be this great. In the salary cap era? Come on Belicheck is unbelievable. For Brady to still throw 30 yards to the sideline on a rope and still slide in the pocket the way he does at his age is unbelievable. The poise he displays in big moments is something you can’t coach and it doesn’t matter how good Belicheck draws something up the players still have to perform and not shit the bed.

My suggestion for NFL overtime rules. Put 8 minutes on the clock for regular play. At the conclusion of the 8 minutes, the team in the lead is the winner. If they are still tied then each team gets the ball on the 35 going in and do it like they do in college.

Speaking of the salary cap look up Brady’s salary and where it ranks. You’ll never convince me that something doesn’t add up correctly. I guess you have to file it under the heading of “ The Patriot Way”

For those dissing Brady, who are the great receivers he has or has had? I too think Belicheck is the key but the Montanas and Elways had much better receivers. What NE does with a great coach, great QB, and any castoff WR, RB, or lineman available is incredible.

Brady wouldn't have survived that many seasons in the 1970s...his legs would be completely shot, and he would have had at least 15 concussions.

Its not absurd it has been this way for a long time. Overtime the old Iowa way. 10yd line 4 downs

Belichick wasn’t all that in great in Cleveland. I’m thinking Brady has had a lot to do with his success.
Check a bit closer. Cleveland was beginning to turn things around. Then the rumors about a move and finally a decision to do so. Things started falling apart then. Just like in just about every case of a move.

Doesn't hurt the refs won't let anyone get close to Brady. Can't believe Jones got 15 yards for "roughing the passer" when he slapped Brady's shoulder pads.

People need to start knocking him out of the game. 3-4 15 yard penalties and a couple of guys ejected and fined would be a small price to get him out of the game

What are the chances Brady knew the dL was lined up offside? Made a risky pass because he knew it was a free one? That was an awesome game (even Kenny would have to admit).

I'd rather the Chiefs lose like that than have it ripped out of their hands by a blown call..
