How Springfield girls' basketball got so God awful. You would think in a city of 150,000+ with the history and tradition of girls' basketball in southwest Missouri these programs should at least be competitive. How is this possible?

Hillcrest 1-11

Central 1-10

Parkview 2-9

Glendale 3-11

The SWMO area is still strong, but the Springfield schools (excluding Kickapoo) are very weak. How and/or why is a great question.

Does it have anything to do with families moving to the edge of town and surrounding areas like Nixa, Ozark, and Republic?

Glendale girls use to be good back in the day when I was down there. My guess is the female athletes might like some other sports.

It's possible, but I don't really know/think that is the case. Neither is the private school excuse as none of the Springfield private schools are lighting up. I think Catholic is the only real competitive of the three, but they are stuck in Strafford's district. I don't have a better excuse though.
