Think this should be a good one. Don’t see PC shutting down Connery like Staley did. Think he will have a good game, which might open that playbook a little more than we’ve seen all year. Hard to go against K in this one at home.
PC turning the ball over three times and Morehead eating up PC's QB on 4th down from the 2 yard line probably had a lot more to do with it than it being windyToss up game. Since Kearney is 14-1 against PC, I say the luck stays the same. Kearney 38 Platte County 35. Surprised that K beat PC last year, and for that matter, twice the year before. Those two teams looked like video game offenses WHEN they got rolling. Last year's PC team got killed by the wind at WC in the playoff, otherwise... But PC is like the Oakland Raiders prior to 1976, always finding a way to lose the big game.

Wind is no factor it is an excuse. Greatest line ever, Dr. Tom Osborne, something like "we do what we do because we play where we play, you do not see these Florida schools wanting to come play in Lincoln in November" I can ASSURE you of 3 things, Taxes, Death, and rain/wind in Missouri in October and November. PS: Kearney by 4 TD or Kearney is not very good. Crap Excelsior Springs ran all over PC in the 12/12 jamboree.Completely disagree. The wind had a huge impact on the game, if you had ever seen them play before. Their QB Clarkson had a 108 QB rating, and his passes were dead in that wind on that game. He was 19 of 38 with a 56 QB Rating. Please don't tell me that was Webb's superior D. Come on.
I would beg to differ, Webb's D tends to do this REGULARLY and usually you write that off on "well that team is over rated" but when they do it to one of your's then it is "bad weather" Dude, you are more biased than the leaders of the Democratic and Republican parties. I can't see the Forrest because of the tree's...Completely disagree. The wind had a huge impact on the game, if you had ever seen them play before. Could be a rainy, run dictated game which strongly favors Kearney. If you just look at scores instead of inside the games would think PC is outstanding. Last week they faced (remember when this happened to Staley vs. Kearney in 2013) a PH South team facing a team-wide injury bug plus being without its starting QB. The week prior they benefitted from numerous Oak Park turnovers, something K is not doing much at all thus far.Think this should be a good one. Don’t see PC shutting down Connery like Staley did. The whole game? All four quarters? Is this kind of like when my dad walked to school and back uphill both ways?
I really think the wind helped them....especially against the wind. It became a jump ball instead of a timing route. We had no chance on the jump ball. Most of their big games came against the wind.Toss up game. Since Kearney is 14-1 against PC, I say the luck stays the same. Kearney 38 Platte County 35. Nope that was about an average Webb D last year and somehow they managed just giving up 8.7 points a game and set a Show Me Bowl record for least 1st downs allowed all classes and pitched a shutout in the title game.Completely disagree. Webbs D couldn't have possibly had ANYTHING to do with beating PC it was all Mother Nature and the wind LOL
This is actually no joke vis-a-vis C4 D8: Look at Lafayette's schedule. If they don't stumble at Savannah they will likely easily be 8-0 hosting Maryville. The MEC, outside of the Spoofhounds, looks very down to me this year.Long term prediction: Excelsior Springs...your 2018 District 8 Champs. Stamp it!

They play with no wind, PC wins by 14 at least
Look out everyone, Calpreps now has a formula to predict who will win based on the weather.
Har har har

And it appears the MRVC West is not as strong as usual. Losing Grain Valley really hurt when one considers Harrisonville is in total rebuild mode as is Oak Grove ergo Excelsior could enter this "district of death" with an inflated record and subsequent seed.I think ES set out to make an easy schedule to get a better seed . Scheduling Central and SE KC? St Joe Benton? Their non con is BAD.
No one better at finding a way to “lose big games” than Belton these past few years...Toss up game. Since Kearney is 14-1 against PC, I say the luck stays the same. Kearney 38 Platte County 35. That will happen when building (rebuilding) a program. Will be very interesting to see how they fare hosting Fort this Friday. No one better at finding a way to “lose big games” than Belton these past few years...

Although I have major differences with a few Webbies here I love their program and especially HC but NO. The only teams that could have hung with Staley last year were the one that did (Pattonville) and the top 5 teams in C6. Certainly no knock on anyone just how good that team was...............and if they solve the QB issue could be again this November. This is totally off the subject and I hate to make anything not about Webb, about Webb. BUT I think WC last year could've hung with Staley.
I think they were particularly brought down going left to right. No matter, they weren't good enough to get through the game with a win. They lose the big ones.
They play with no wind, PC wins by 14 at least
And something may not be right in their fan base support. I was at the Kearney v Belton at BELTON last year. I counted - outside of the student section, less than 200 attendees. Less than 200 at a conference home game?No one better at finding a way to “lose big games” than Belton these past few years...

I am sure I will be in the minority and, heck, anything can happen but count me as one not thinking this one will be close UNLESS Staley softened Kearney up (particularly star LB Mordecai who was noticeably limping at the end of that brutal game) enough for the Pirates to hold up on the lines. If it somehow is a dry evening going K 28, PC 14. If rain soaked going K 21, PC 0.
Staley NEVER has a good kicker. A true head scratcher given their enormous numbers.............I agree with you on the rain - IMO, rain during the game heavily favors Kearney & their back; slippery wet turf gives him an edge as well (if it's not raining during the game (although it wouldn't impact PC in the air.) That rain could also negate a solid Kearney kicking game (something else Staley needs to find.)
I see it as a close game either way - Kearney hasn't seen a good passing game yet, I think their corner play is improved, but they have yet to be really tested (and that's probably the weakness of this D.) I'm skeptical of a blowout either way. I'll go Kearney 20-14.
You can see why many of us are confused by your posts?
Were you at the PC Webb game?
How does losing a Week 3 game ruin a season? Explain, please...............K could have Staley hang over. Everyone, including me, thinks K will win, so obviously PC will pull off an upset, ruining K's season.
I think mentally, losing this game, after the Staley loss, will be tough to overcome when the district playoffs are on the line. This is a must win for confidence. How does losing a Week 3 game ruin a season? Explain, please...............![]()
The first nine games (regular season) are just window dressing for the playoffs. The past two years in C5 are great examples in STL: Check out Vianney 2016 and Pattonville 2017 regular season records vs. what happened from the district playoffs on. Trust me this team is brimming with confidence. They knew what they were running into last week and gave it their all just ran out of gas. The game is much, much easier when you can sub all game long like Staley.I think mentally, losing this game, after the Staley loss, will be tough to overcome when the district playoffs are on the line. I've heard of fans and coaches speaking with lofty principles and cliches, but more often the cold reality is if you lose, you lose more (and how you lose matters as you pointed out in the Staley loss, injuries). Winning and losing depends on how you define it. I point to last year, after the Staley KO turbo, K was unable to cash in on their window dressing, losing to a lesser team in the MEC. A football season is in many ways the Matthew principle. This is why Raytown loses and Kearney typically beats PC. Yet, beating PC doesn't guarantee a State Title birth. Its status quo, and losing this game to PC will be devastating to postseason success. No doubt K is the better team. The first nine games (regular season) are just window dressing for the playoffs. Back to this game the only way Kearney loses it is if they sustained injuries last Friday. To date, I have not heard of any thankfully.
Btw: is he playing college football?
