Pink and White brackets released

IMO Mt. Vernon is the best unranked team and they got the shaft by drawing Ft. Smith Northside. They are my pick to come out the backside of their division.

My picks for upsets are Camdenton, Bolivar (not very cofident in that one, but I think Bolivar is good), Glendale (If you count that as an upset?)

Mt Vernon should have been an 8 seed over Carthage IMO or at the very least be playing a lower seed. Carthage is 4-0 but they haven't played anyone that good. There's no way that Catholic, Hillcrest or Aurora are better teams than Mt Vernon.

OTOH Mt Vernon did lose by 34 to Webb City. I'm not sure how that happens.

I still don't understand that game either but it must have hurt the seeding for Mt. Vernon here.

How is Clever seeded and not Mt V?? Republic a 6 seed is a joke. clever struggled with Marshfield.

glendale was the 7 seed in a class 2 tourney and lost in the consolation game to Spokane...they aren't beating anyone in this tourney....

Mount Vernon lost 8 seniors last year including D1 player Call. They have Stokes, Johnston, and then some young and/or inexperienced players. Don't get me wrong, everything I said about them not deserving to be what amounts to the lowest seeded team in the Pink bracket applies, but they aren't good enough to get a seed over anyone but #8 Carthage.

Clever didn't struggle with Marshfield. They won by 15 points and led comfortably beginning to end. Marshfield is now 4-2 on the season after beating Buffalo last night. Clever was also up 6 over #2 seed West Plains in the third quarter before the experience of West Plains took over and they won.

Although I agree that Mt. Vernon should have a better draw. I looked up scores and see Clever beat a larger school in Marshfield by 14. If they struggled and still won by 14, I would think the 6 seed is not to high. Plus a state ranking of #4 in class 3. We all know we will never agree on any seedlings that are based on opinions.

Clever has scored the two highest team point totals (89 and 87 points) in at least the last 12 years and maybe their entire history in their last two games, so they must be pretty good and very worthy of their #6 seed in this tournament. 5-1 now on the season with their only loss to West Plains, a #2 seed in this tournament. They (West Plains) beat Ozark last night by 4. Ozark is the #2 seed in the other bracket.

#4 seed Kickapoo beat #3 seed Nixa by 14 last night.

And #8 seed Carthage lost by 3 to unseeded Central. Again, Carthage should not have gotten a seed in this tournament.

Another thing I found out is that if you do not get a seed in this tournament, they randomly pick who the other teams play in the first round, which IMO almost defeats the purpose of the seeding, but I guess it makes for a more interesting tournament.

We know, you hate Carthage just like everyone else on here.
The teams gotta win regardless of their seeding, anyway.

I don’t “hate” them at all, have no reason to, I just didn’t think they should have gotten a seed.

In the grand scheme of things it’s not a big deal, this is just about discussing hoops for fun.

I will go out on a limb and say there will not be an upset in the first round of the pink bracket.

I am guessing 2 upsets in the white bracket. Camdenton over Branson and Spokane over Republic.

Anyone know why there are 3 out of state teams in the Pink and White while the Blue and Gold is all local teams? I'd prefer the P & W to be all local teams as well.

I'll go ahead and predict, as someone else did above, that Mt Vernon wins the consolation on the Pink side. They will lose to Northside and then win the remaining games.

Glendale has the best shot at pulling off the first round upset over Carthage. Lebanon could possibly give Clever fits. Mt Vernon, Bolivar and Lebanon are the best unseeded teams on the Pink side IMO

As far as the White goes... Camdenton has a shot at knocking off #6 seed Branson in the first round.

Other games that might be close are Thayer vs Central and Skyline vs Rogersville. I still think the seeded teams Thayer and Skyline win those games.

Spokane won't stand a chance against Republic IMO. Republic's guards are quicker and faster than Spokane's are and that will be the difference.

As much as I'd love to pick a local team to win either side, I don't see it happening. Northside wins the Pink and Classen likely wins the White.

If Strafford can somehow win the White, they may not lose another game this season. They have three really good teams to get through - Republic, Ozark, and Classen, assuming they respectively win out.

Glendale isn't beating anyone..ever
Bolivar lost one of their top 3 kids to season ending injury.
Central coach won't know how to attack Thayer's matchup zone and their girls will get frustrated and quit.

Didn’t Spokane just lose by 20 to Mansfield. Republic should win by 25.

The pink and white was local and KTXR Classic was more competitive with out of state teams, then the Classic ended so they combined the two to create P and W “classic”

spokane is not even competitive. Strafford will have to play well to get to final. Classen will be too much. Still have good shot at final 4 though.

Anyone wanting to see an example of the most overrated, spoiled, lazy, selfish player coached by the worst coach in the Ozarks, you still have time to catch the second half. Wow. Turnover machine too busy having conversations with dad in the stands to focus on the game. Pathetic display.

I watched the Branson vs Camdenton game and my eyes freaking hurt after watching that slop-fest

Well Here's what I saw today...

Mt Vernon was in the game with Northside until about midway through the second quarter, which was pretty darned impressive. Stokes is really, really good. She scored 34 of Mt Vernon's 40 points. Northside is huge and Mt Vernon too small and scrawny to prevent them from killing them inside and on rebounds. No one but Stokes could do anything against that defense, but Stokes was downright amazing today. If anyone denies that she's not one of the five best players in southwest Missouri, I'll have that debate. But Northside won by 30 in this game.

Camdenton did hang with Branson in - as I said above in a previous post - a slop fest of a game. Neither team ran really much of any offense, both teams pressed and it basically looked like a bunch of headless chickens running around out there. Branson won 59-50.

Central hung with Thayer but Thayer is just a smart, well coached team and they won 49-39.

Glendale was down 28-8 at half time to Carthage but came back to make it somewhat interesting, ultimately losing 50-38

Clever was up 33-26 over Lebanon but a 9-0 run to start the third quarter turned into Clever out scoring them for the quarter 27-9 and lead by as much as 25-ish. They win 71-53 and play Nixa tomorrow, who destroyed Hillcrest.

Skyline handled Rogersville pretty easily as it turned out, winning 57-34. They go against Ozark tomorrow, who pummeled Marshfield 53-18.

A couple of surprises were Catholic hanging with Willard and only losing 62-50 in a game that was closer than that. And Bolivar only lost by 5 to Blue Eye, 61-56.

There were no upsets today. All of the seeded teams won. many in convincing fashion

So in the Pink on the winners side tomorrow:

#1 Northside vs #8 Carthage
#2 West Plains vs #7 Willard
#3 Nixa vs #6 Clever
#4 Kickapoo vs #5 Blue Eye

White:

#1 Classen vs #8 Thayer
#2 Ozark vs #7 Skyline
#3 Strafford vs #6 Republic
#4 Melbourne vs #5 Branson

What teams have the best chances of pulling off the upsets?

For upset purposes only

Republic over Strafford or Skyline over Ozark...

I'll take Skyline over Ozark. Coach cheek has a basketball factory going on down in Hickory county and his girls are intimidated by no one.

How did the Strafford faithful take it?

Well the game was very physical and intense that last quarter. I've never seen so many bodies flying around. At first the refs were letting Strafford get away with crap in that last quarter (and even before) but they finally started calling it tighter on both ends, which put Strafford in the bonus pretty early. The Strafford players got a little physical with one getting called for some extra-curricular shoving away from the ball.

Wasn't really around any Strafford fans. I always make a point to not sit by them, but I'm sure they weren't thrilled but I'm also sure that they knew the streak would end at some point this season, if they were realistic.

If the streak would not have ended today, then it would have ended either tomorrow vs Ozark or Monday vs Classen, the team from Oklahoma City that is really good.

And also, the Strafford coach got called for a "warning" in the fourth quarter for arguing about a foul that wasn't called, which btw was probably justified on that particular play. I've never seen that before... the game was literally stopped and Republic had to inbound the ball after that. If you're going to call a "warning", call the technical foul!

I don't know if I'm missing something or not, but that's what I believed was called along with the people around me.

My bad. I thought I saw somewhere that it was at 140. Thanks for the correction.
