Peter Fairbanks 6'6" was a 3 year varsity basketball player ( 13.8 PPG ) for Jay Blossom @ Webster Groves. Webster Groves had a 23-5 record in 2012.

Peter Fairbanks was listed as a first baseman for the baseball team. The 26 year old Peter Fairbanks is now a ace relief pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays and throws 100 miles per hour.

Fairbanks had Tommy John surgery his Jr. year in high school. He then played baseball @ the university of Missouri ( 2013-15 )

Tune in for the world series between Tampa Bay and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Can someone explain why Peter Fairbanks is not a St. Louis Cardinal?

Forget Fairbanks! I'm still angry that they released hometown boy Art Shamsky in 1972 before he even played a game for them. He was then signed by the Cubs, and subsequently purchased by the A's, where he was able to draw a BB in 8 plate appearances before calling it a career. Art, not Lou Brock, went out in a blaze of glory, and it should have been in a CARDINAL UNIFORM!!

Played for the Mets sometime in there, too.

Back in the day I must have had at least 12 Art Shamsky baseball cards. He had really thick eyebrows. 🤨 There were 10 of those for every one Willie Mays or Lou Brock. Those damn Topps people and their rotten gum. He was definitely remembered best as a Met.

Definitely a Met. One of many cogs in the amazin' '69 title run.

I'm 99% sure that Art is pictured in my 1972 Cardinals yearbook, even though he never played a game for them.

Jim Maloney was the ubiquitious basball card for me.....

Ubiquitous? I’m probably showing my limited vocabulary. I’m also probably not the only one saying, “What the hell does that mean?” Lol

Basically in this discussion it means back in the day when you bought a pack of baseball cards at the super market checkout line or the “dime store” chances were pretty good the pack would include Art Shamsky, Jim Maloney, Dal Maxvill, or Donn Clendenon and not Mickey Mantle, Johnny Bench or Roberto Clemente.
I would agree with that for sure.

See how great my vocabulary is TJ DUB. :p

I am impressed! Lol
I wasn't even close to what he was talking about, but that's about normal for my vocabulary too. I thought maybe the guy he was talking about was a big star that I didn't remember.
