Park Hill (KC, MO) Coach Charged

I always just try to keep in mind the “innocent until proven guilty” theory on all these cases and hope that is the case here. All it would take is one pissed off kid and it’s their word against yours. Many of us could have had the same charges put on us. I don’t even know who the coach is or his name and he may be 100% guilty but hate to do the courts job for them. If it is true there is a line in every school in the country. If you decide to step over it there is no coming back and don’t ask for my help. Just hope it’s not true.

fox4kc.com has the story. I don't know how to post it on here. Allegedly happened 16-17 years ago while at Holden.

The relationship allegedly took place from Nov. 1, 2003, to May 13, 2004, according to a court document.

That's a long time ago. Hard to fathom how these charges can stick, but it's a whole different world now than even a year ago. Regardless, his reputation is probably toast.

That’s just it. It doesn’t have to stick. The damage is done. They could drop charges now and the cloud follows him forever. Bad deal either way for sure.

The story says Hood admitted to knowing the student, and having multiple sexual encounters with her, including kissing and digital penetration.

His attorney says later that they feel the charges are "baseless in nature'

Why in the world would it all come out now? Very strange. Statute of limitations deal? No clue if there even is one in MO for the crimes listed. Would hope Jackson Co wouldn't file charge like that unless they had some serious evidence. And also hard to believe this evidence just surfaced. The timing is so odd.

If you read the paragraph or two of how it all went down, it doesn't exactly drip with seedy behavior. I get it, it's a criminal act and all. But doesn't even sound like the girl was a student at Holden. Again, I get it...criminal act. But it's all pretty odd to me.

Not sure what you read or how you read it, she was clearly a student when this all took place. The investigation was opened in April, the girl would be in her early 30's now?? Could me many, many reasons why this is just coming to light.

Yes, I'm aware she was a student. The article didn't state she was a student at Holden, where he was teaching at the time. That's what I meant.

Here's the picture I paint from the article. Single dude in his mid 20s living in LS teaching out in Holden. Meets a girl at a party at somebody's house in LS. I'm making the assumption she was a student at LS or somewhere close to LS. Not a Holden student. In my mind, that's different. Doesn't make it any less criminal. Just has different optics.

Girls down in the hills used to tell the single coaches when they turned 18. They know all the angles.

I told a couple of them that I don't date students.

I crossed out the things on your painted picture that the prosecution will find irrelevant. Doesn't sound like they are charging him with adultery, or for being old at the time, as those things aren't illegal in Missouri. The things for which he is accused are.
I'm absolutely for the concept of innocent until proven guilty. But I think inventing a story in an attempt to excuse behavior is a little bogus.

You should tell all, not a couple. It's bad practice and can ruin a career, and life. Unfortunately, it seems one of these stories surfaces very other school year if not more.

I literally said it didn't make it any less criminal. Reading is tough sometimes. That paragraph was in response to another question/statement. If it doesn't change the optics (my words) for you, so be it. In no way was I excusing anything, nor did I say it. Man, some people just have to find something.

I read fine, thank you. So, what was your purpose in making up your little story?

Do you?

I didn't make it up. It was literally in the article. There were specifics (like if the alleged victim was a student at Holden, where he was teaching) missing. For me, if he's a teacher at the school and cultivating a relationship with a student in a teacher/student relationship then the optics are different. Again, NO LESS CRIMINAL. The rest of what was in my paragraph was in the story, which was from the investigation report.

What are the chances a young lady in her 30s is going to make this up now? What would be her motivation? This isn’t as “odd” as some of us think it is. Try binging L&O SVU and educate yourself.

I, for one, do not think she's making anything up. He's admitted to some of it. I don't understand the timing but I am sure there is a reason, if not many. It's not for me to understand.

If anybody thinks she's making it up, they clearly didn't read the article or watch the report. In the investigation report he admits to some level of a relationship. I, like others, am really curious about the timing. It's not like something like this goes quietly investigated for 15+ years. Basically, what you have is a sexual relationship between an adult and an un-consenting (legally speaking) minor, that happened over 15 years ago. It went unreported (or uninvestigated) for 15+ years. Seems fair to be at least curious as to why now.

If it is found to be true, the "relationship" you describe is what the state describes as "rape."

Ok Karen...What's your point?

If found to be true my aunt has balls, she'd be my uncle.

Again, that's the word used in the article. Like in the very first line of the article. Relationship, sexual in fact, is what it said...FTR...I didn't describe the relationship. That was done in the article, that you allegedly have no problem reading.

If she identified as your aunt, she would be your aunt. Balls or no.

Looked it up last night - no statute of limitations in Missouri.
