Palmyra

Palmyra is in a really bad spot, and I do not necessarily blame the coaching staff........

So, what parent got mad that little Johnny didn't get to play in the JV game and reported them? I really have no clue about this situation, but it seems like someone from within probably reported them.

Sounds like that's exactly what happened. I'm not shocked.

Not everybody involved is always fully bought in.

Its even worse to keep a head coach who is like that.
Is there some insight you have on this? I'm not from that area but know Palmyra has been solid in the past. Are you implying Coach Miles is the issue?

From what I've heard from very reliable sources, Miles is definitely the issue.

MSHSAA only allowing 6 quarters a week is not conducive to building a HS program.
I understand that thought. But it is conducive to player health and safety. If numbers are so bad they can't play lower level games, solve it some other way. Nobody has any business playing a full game, resting for two days, and then playing another full game.

A work-around solution some schools have gone to is to play 3 12-minute quarters. Per the by-laws, JV games CAN BE 12 minute quarter length...but not many do that.

Have no clue about Palmyra have seen it other places though.

I'm open to ideas in making it work. Most aren't playing what I would consider 2 full games, but us with low numbers would like to get young players experience on both sides of the ball in a 7 day span. Coaches need some flexibility and do what's best for their players and program. Of course some coaches will abuse it, but it's better than having to cancel your JV season like we did. Plus young players can gain experience and confidence playing against players on their own level.

It is no secret and well known in the area that Palmyra has some issues going on (non coaching related). They are running through coaches in other sports as well. I am not surprised you were told this was all Miles. They will turn on the next guy too. There is a pattern here.

Kevin has officially tendered his resignation, leaving with a record of 92-50. I have been on staff with Kevin many years ago, I can attest that he has a tremendous amount of love for Palmyra and the players. I wish him nothing but the best moving forward.

DIdn't say it was all Miles. There are many issues there, but Miles was a big part of the problem.

To the public, it looked fine. People within the program know different. He was doing and saying things that probably happen at other places. He just got caught, and was called out on it. The AD should also be under some serious scrutiny because this was all under his watch. There have been problems with multiple sports and coaches, not just football and Miles.
