First off...it's OZZY...with a "Y"...
More importantly...I question the collective comparison of these two bands...
This thread would be more interesting if it were Black Sabbath v. Motörhead.
Essentially, Ozzy's solo bands are not very comparable with Motörhead.
There's probably more in common between Ozzy Osbourne & Lemmy Kilmister
as individuals than their respective bands.
With that being said...Ozzy enjoyed massive mainstream commercial success due
to the fact that Black Sabbath was a platinum selling act in the 1970's, and
the early 1980's post-Sabbath solo band featured guitar virtuoso Randy Rhodes.
This led to two massive albums "Blizzard of Oz" and "Diary of a Madman".
Following Rhode's death, the addition of Jake E. Lee and two more huge hit
albums "Bark at the Moon" and "The Ultimate Sin"...oh and MTV helped also...
Motörhead on the other hand, for have sold 15 million albums worldwide, and enjoying
some late 70's, early 80's success, with albums "Overkill" and "Ace of Spades" remain
relatively unknown by the mainstream unless you watch "That Metal Show" on VH1 Classic
and/or you've been to Hot Topic and/or Wal-Mart and bought a Motörhead t-shirt because
it "looks cool"....Unless your Jame Hetfield, most would have trouble naming 5 Motörhead
songs other than "Ace of Spades" without the help of Wikipedia.
However, I dare you to listen to the solo in Motörhead's "Just 'cos You Got the Power"...
...if you don't get goose bumps..you're probably dead...just saying..
Local expertise says....Ozzy Osbourne wins album version.
Motörhead wins live version.
