Ozuna has been terrible.

Agree, but the hit that Hicks gave up to tie the game...I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that Martinez was holding the runner on and then during the pitch never got off the bag and sure enough a ground ball gets past him just out of his reach to his right.
It's certainly not good. To make it worthwhile, they've gotta hit their @$$es off. I'd like to see Jedd back at 3rd (mostly) full time. He played a nice 3B last year. I guess you keep Jose at 1st in this scenario and make Marp super utility like Zobrist??? It's a tough call.
I had the same thought when that happened. He didn't appear to jump out there very far. But that's the price you pay when offense is more important than defense.
Ozuna is 1 for his last 23 ABs. We just have to hope he comes around because he's not going anywhere.
I'm not worried about him just yet. Other guys have had slower starts overall and he's going through a really rough patch right now. If he doesn't turn it around in the next few weeks, though, consider me right there with you.

But what they got isn't exactly what was sold as what they got...a legit middle of the order bat. When you look at his career numbers, he's had exactly one season where his numbers said that. I think if Birds fans expect that season to repeat itself, they're going to be saddened. He's probably much closer to the .270/.320/.450 guy than he is the .312/.376/.548 guy that he was last year...Just to make you guys really crap your pants...That's basically a RH version of Tino Martinez. Now, if you get the 2017v of Ozuna to replicate itself...He's a great get.

I agree. When I said "comes around" I meant I hope he at least gets to his averages.
Question is, when are they going to put DeJong in the 4 hole? He's been more of a power hitter than Ozuna so far. Yes he's going to K a lot but he has twice the doubles, three times the HRs, and even more BBs than Ozuna at this point. Put him up there with some guys on base and maybe he can do more damage. At least until Ozuna gets going, if he ever does.

My worry is this...folks are satisfied or think the Birds are actually ok right now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. MM is a definite straight line thinker. He's probably in this camp. In reality...they're 7-0 vs the Reds...and 6-9 against the actual MLB teams on the schedule. Unfortunately we can't play the Reds 1/3 of the games this season.

I honestly think Baez and Schwarber will come back to Earth, but good lord they are crushing the ball right now. Baez will more closely resemble last year's numbers than this years. I think Schwarber will be somewhere in between last year and where he is now. But both of those are still very good, especially for their roles in the lineup...Rizzo will hit, he always has. Heyward won't, because Heyward sucks at hitting. I think the caveats are Almora and Contreras. Those two dudes rake, the rest of the NL Central should just play for a WC spot.
Strangely, Heyward is hitting well too.
Schwarber won't hit .300 all year, but the guy is a fantastic hitter. His numbers last year are tricky. He was put as the leadoff hitter.....right after recovering from knee surgery. Not the best move ever, but made sense. However, I think he's going to hit .260-.270 with 25 HR.
As far as your comments on Ozuna, I agree. I was always curious as to why everyone got so excited about him. Sure, the potential is there..... But he's had multiple seasons of just mehhhh. Good guy to have, but not to build around.
Heyward won't. Just give it time.
That's where I think Schwarber will be too. And I sure as heck wouldn't want to face that guy if he's the go-ahead run.

Lol. Sorta like a smoke show that won't play ball. Makes me sad. He's just so awful. But crap, you can hit him and Russell 7-8 (or Russell 9 if Madden is still doing that goofy thing) and you're good to go. I could watch Heyward play the OF all day long. And he just makes it look so easy too. And the fact that Russell could move Castro, and keep Baez at 2B/3B...really speaks to just how freaking good he is with the glove. Even with Schwarber trying not to be the next Matt Adams in LF, that defense is probably ahead of the offense. And that's no knock on the offense.
Heyward on defense is just awesome. Smooth, clean & and rocket. It's incredible that at his size, he can't hit. That HBP must have really just ruined him. Can't blame him....
Russell bounces between 5th and 8th. His gloves is his money though. He's Simmons level good. Baez is flashy, but not even close to Russell. As for Castro, I miss the guy and feel terrible for him leaving the Cubs to a rebuiliding Yankees..... Only to be moved to a trash heap. He will be traded this summer. He's hitting too good for teams to pass

Why is the flap thing and issue for you when the guys are on the bump slinging100mph stuff at you? It does nothing to restrict your vision but it sure can help deflect a baseball headed for your jaw bones. I don't wanna get hit in the face with a baseball at any speed. If you don't like that I guess you don't like the ear flap either, all they need is a little helmet on the top of their head with no padding in it.

I'd go up there in full on catcher's gear with a bubble wrap cover. Almost everyone is 90+. Almost nobody can locate. I'd be weeing myself. In all my years of catching, caught one guy that tickled 90. It was insane at how quick the ball got on me compared to our other guys that lived between 76-82.

I was just amazed at catching the hard thrower. And he was 6'6". I felt sorry for a lot of the guys. He made it to AAA with the Giants. Then had shoulder issues. I honestly don't remember him hitting anyone with a fastball. Hammer is a different story. He'd get one a game with that. And I still felt for the kid. Lol
I just don't see how those guys hang in as long as they do. Take a guy like Hicks. He regularly hits 100+ and seems to have zero location. No thanks. At least vs Lesnar you could just lay down mid punch. Now if he went for one of those spears...I'd probably just defecate and lose consciousness.

. I've played with Jacob Turner and the Bundy brothers(Dylan is Baltimore's ace). Those guys are likely the hardest throws I played with. Both Bundy's would touch 95. Crazy to see up close at such a young age.
With Lesnar, I'm just going with the fact that it will be over quick. Just lock in an arm bar, and I'll tap before it is even locked haha

If you say so. Yadi hasn't been popped in the jaw and he wears it. Looks kinda silly to me NOT to wear one when it doesn't affect your ability to see pitches.
