STAR DATE 2020 - In the meantime, how about having the foresight to address the national debt we are leaving our children? That's real, and not chasing an imaginary enemy!! Waste of money!!

What part of "China and Russia are already setting their eyes on space" don't you understand? In 2015 Russia inacted their Space Force and China wasn't far behind them.

This isn't an "imaginary enemy" the threat from China and Russia is very real.

No one is Washington is serious about the national debt. That's reality and a non-starter in this debate, I wish it would be addressed, but it won't.

Bruh, Obama added 8.588 trillion to the national debt. A 74% increase from where it was when he took office!

Where were you then???

And trumpy is on pace to outspend Obama. The tax cut for the wealthy will cost $10 Trillion over 10 yrs alone. Biden will take care of the that, though.

No, he is not.

Trump plans to add $4.832 trillion to the debt in his first term.
That's a 24% increase from the $20.245 trillion debt at the end of Obama's last budget for FY 2017. If he remains in office for a second term, he plans to add $8.3 trillion for both terms.

Obama added $8.588 trillion, a 74% increase from the $11.657 trillion debt at the end of Bush’s last budget, FY 2009.

Crickets on the Russia, China threat...makes sense, chase an off topic red herring. Much easier to defend.

I am not twisting any numbers. These are the figures that are out there. The tax cut is already factored into that amount.

Sorry this doesn't fit your agenda and you just can't accept them?

Lol you talk about spin, you can't credibly defend your anti-space program position because you recognize actual threats so you turn it into budgetary issues.

Deflect, deflect, deflect...

Remember who we are dealing with here, Veerman. A guy who loves to play the blame game and victim card but he didn't even vote last election.

Trump destroyed his own economy thru his inaction in January and February. The virus was going to hurt and he exacerbated the problem because he was afraid to “spook the market”.

Jared literally advised him at one point not to go all in on testing nor ventilators because it might “ spook the market”. How did that work out for working families? Truth hurts.

Waste of money chasing your boogeyman.

Waste of money chasing your boogeyman.

My boogeymen who are actively seeking dominance in space? Who will have no qualms about shooting down our satellites and crippling our economy, our ability to defend ourselves, and our daily lives if we are unable to stop them from doing so?

The threat is real. Educate yourself if you don't believe me, but don't just plug your ears and say "Nuh uh" just because you don't like the messenger.

You must educate yourself watching reruns of Star Trek. No one is shooting down satellites. Waste of money chasing the boogeyman.

Ok, choose to be willfully ignorant then. You're old, hopefully you won't have to deal with it.

Big deal, so Russia was following one of our thousands of satellites, they haven't provoked us. You've proven nothing but you want to throw $$$billions at a fabricated threat with our present economy struggling. But by God, let's not worry about 15 million underfed children, families going bankrupt, or small businesses closing in our country, we need to arm ourselves for an potential space war with Russia , who doesn't want to go to war with us.

Good grief, beam me up Scottie, this idiotic conversation is over.

Lol get huffy because your shortsighted nonsense has been soundly refuted.

I don't blame you for being short sighted. If I was statistically likely to die in the next 20 years or so, I'd be focused on right now too.

As it is, if Russia or China develops a way to cripple us in space, a lot more than 15 million American children will go hungry.

1. There are thousands of U.S. satellites orbiting the Earth. In a time of war, if an enemy was able to interfere with, sabotage, or destroy any of these satellites they could severely affect missile defense and guidance.

2. If you order something from Amazon and you want to track your package, that's GPS. If you use your credit card at the gas station pump, that's communication satellites and also GPS, cell signal, television signal, everything could be wiped out by hostile a tors who have been given free reign of space. So if the Russians or Chines have the unimpeded ability to interfere with satellites systems, they can affect almost every part of daily life and a huge part of the United States economic system.

3. Just last week a large chunk of space debris fell to earth. In China and India it is common practice to blow up their satellites, this (over time) leads to an artificial belt around the planet, not to mention some objects falling to earth which could cause death/damage. There are numerous ecological issues that could result from this practice. We need some sort of space presence to either eliminate or move space debris if for no other reason than they could damage our satellites which we've already discussed that we desperately need to maintain our way of life.

4. Russia and China are already developing a robust space force. India has begun developing one in order to not be left behind because they see the dangers (only some of which I discussed) of giving Russia and the ChiComs free reign.
They can do all of that without actually being in space, and so can we!

You sure like to play the blame game. Was it a concern for Obama?
The big money bailouts in '08 were approved BEFORE Obama took office. You might remember he and McCain suspended their campaigns to return to Washington for the vote. You might also remember it was a VERY bipartisan vote!

You seem to want to forget the bailouts of '08 that were voted on a passed in a bipartisan vote BEFORE Obama took office.
