Open Letter to WC and Lamar

WC and Lamar: Regardless of the result so many want to see this match-up, but we know it is not possible with your respective COC and Big 8 schedules. However there is a solution that would provide a small hit for your fans. Next year do not schedule your normal Jamboree's and only Jamboree against each other. Go Freshman vs Freshman, then JV vs JV, then for the finale Varsity for one half. Donate some of the proceeds to a local charity and 2,000+ will show up for a Jamboree.

Several years ago, Lamar was in the same conference as Webb City. We couldn't beat them then, and more than likely, we couldn't beat them now. Lamar and CJ were evenly matched over the last few years that CJ was in the Big 8. What is CJ's record against WC since they have joined the COC? Lamar would probably fare about the same. We could probably be competitive some years, especially if Webb was not clicking on all cylinders. But, in most seasons, Webb City would do to Lamar what they do to everyone else they play. Dominate!!! Go Cardinals and Go Tigers!!! Hope to join you at state.

Yes, that game was grandfathered in, but because of that anybody can play a game until Nov 25th this year. In the MSHSAA handbook any sport can schedule a game up to the state championship. It was put in because of that game but it also allows schools in basketball and other sports to complete a conference schedule that was delayed by weather or whatever.

This game would have been fun last year with Lamar possibly pulling the upset. However as others have pointed out that is the only year that would have been the case. This year Lamar could probably put some points up and get a few stops but in the end Webb would prevail fairly easily. Next year would probably be much worse.

teams can also continue practicing until state championship game,, with the limited time in pads allowed before season starts, If you are elimimated week 10 you can practice 5 more weeks

Watching these two teams play is fun to imagine, however I tend to agree that WC would handle most, if not every game. Not to down play Lamar but I think there is a difference between beating class 3 teams and winning state in class 2 compared to beating class 5 and sometimes power teams like Rock and Har-Ber and winning state in class 4. Lamar might handle most class 4 teams with relative ease, but WC is not like most of class 4, or 5 for that matter.

Still, it would be interesting to see what happened. Unfortunately I don't think we'll find out anytime soon, or ever.

Actually, the original post was about a jamboree matchup. Since Webb City already plays Seneca in a jamboree, and Lamar has been continually beating Seneca, then why wouldn't this work? I'm wondering if Joplin will stay in the Webb/Seneca/Joplin jamboree now that they are joining Webb in the COC?

Some jamborees are 4 teams. Add Lamar and maybe Joplin starters go against Lamar and Seneca, then Joplin backups go against Webb backups while Lamar backups go against Seneca backups.

Anyway, original suggestion above isn't far-fetched.

Lamar is playing great again. but............ They will have their hands more than full with a rematch with Trinity. Im not sure Lamar is as good and wondering if Trinity is better than last year. Id love to see Lamar keep rolling though.
