I wouldn't have complained if the flag had never been thrown in the first place, and I'd only be irritated if the flag had been thrown only to be picked up, but this crew took it a step further: They threw the flag, made the call on the field(over the PA and the TV broadcast), and then they picked it up without even an explanation as to why???(what new evidence did they have to pick up a flag that had not only been thrown, but a flag for a penalty that had already been called on the field???...)Originally posted by MlSSlLESlLO:
It does seem to me that after an entire season of calling PI for every touch in the secondary, the refs are allowing a LOT of contact in the playoffs.
Where's Dean Blandino???(that is nauseating...)Originally posted by Drop.Tine:
That call was bizarre.
Even more bizarre is seeing Chri Christie and Jerry Jones man hugging it out.
Whats the guy I the dark blue doing!?
You try making that body look good. That's not a great canvas to start with. Red=Tomato. Orange=Pumpkin. Green=Xmas Tree. Brown=A big fat turd. And I don't care how much black that dude wears, it's not going to be slimming.Originally posted by Duck_walk:
Chrisie's handlers need to re-evaluate his wardrobe choices.
That sweater made him look like a giant tomatoe. And the hugging
was not presidential.
Which is worse? Billionaires and Millionaires whom have put in a ton of time and have been ridiculed for years celebrating a playoff win or Veer streaking in his underwear drunk on Keystone light after MU beat #25 and celebrating hanging his runnerup banner?Originally posted by hoops4u:
...of idiots that have never seen Dallas win a football game. Jeez..........
If you're a big man...no stripes...EVER...not vertical...not horizontal...no pinstripes...no big stripes...An old vet doctor in Freddy from many years gone by had the same, ahem, build of Governor Christie. We're playing golf one day. Doc was wearing a pretty thick striped shirt that was clinging to him. As he's lining up a put on the 1st green, one of the guys in the group blurts out, "hey, when Doc pulled on that shirt this morning it was pinstriped." Everybody except Doc doubled over in laughter. Poor guy never wore that shirt again.Originally posted by Duck_walk:
Vertical stripes?
Yup, hence my saying there was contact going both ways. If you're goingOriginally posted by SadButTrue:
Hitchens also grabbed his jersey.
Even Dean Blandino released an official statement that their should have been a defensive holding call on the play(so you and your brother are incorrect, though I understand your biasOriginally posted by ct_mitchell:
I'm a diehard Cowboys fan, always have been. When watching the game live, I thought it was an easy, easy pass interference call - even though some of you need to learn the rules and know that in the NFL, you don't have to turn your head or 'make a play on the ball'. And when the refs decided to pick up the flag, I was happy, obviously, but sincerely dumbfounded. I thought it was one of the worst no-calls I had seen in a long time.
I was texting my little brother throughout the game, and we both felt the same way. We thought the Cowboys were finally on the lucky side of a bad call. But then he texted me, 'go back and watch it again. It was a good no call.' I didn't believe him and said there was no way. But he insisted. So I hit rewind on the DVR and watched it again. While there was contact at the end of the play, what no one was showing or talking about was the fact that Pettigrew was holding onto and pulling down on Hitchens' facemask almost the entire route. When the contact initiated, it was because Hitchens was knocking Pettigrews grip on his facemask loose.
After watching it several times, I truly do believe the refs made the right call. There was contact on both sides that could have been called, so no call or offsetting would have been fine.
The throwing the flag, announcing the penalty and then waving it off shouldn't have happened, and the refs admitted that. There should have been a convening before any announcement was made, and if there had been, this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion moving forward.
