What ever, the Trophy is now in the Trophy case of the Better "Football Team" that day. What I took away from that game at the end was "CLASS, CHARACTER & SPORTSMANSHIP". Not only did Lamar win a very good, well fought game, they won the three categories I just mentioned also, and they won those aspects of the game in a RESOUNDING BLOW OUT !!! I know it is Hard to Lose, but come on, that's suppose to be a "Religious Institutional School"......Right?

After the game, did anyone else see Lamar's #12 walk to the East side of the Stadium to offer a Hand Shake, Butt Slap or even possibly mere condolences to the Trinity Kid who refused to join his team at mid field at the time? I cant say for sure, but from my view point it looked too me like the Trinity Coach tried to Push #12 away. I do believe the Trinity Player did reach up and Pat the Lamar Kid in the Helmet thought. I was clear across the Stadium, and my eyes were shaking in the sockets from shivering, so I could be a bit mistaken on this. But from what I saw on the field during the game, Lamar was the winner in Class, Character and Sportsmanship. :)

Who knows what would've happened if the refs would have given Trinity the last possession they should have received based on time left on the game clock.

I will have to watch the reply when it is available, but I thought the 3rd down play ended with about 34-35 seconds on the game clock. The officials did not get the ball placed and set before the clock hit 25 seconds. Once that happened Lamar didn't have to run a play on 4th down.

Before the possesion started i figured there would be 5-7 seconds left at the snap on 4th. Officials were slow spotting the ball all game so its not like they changed their speed.

Even if the refs would have started the play clock the second the 3rd down play ended, Lamar QB would have just run straight backwards to the end zone on 4th down and played keep away until the clock expired...

This is always a tough one for fans. All game long, nobody seems to mind the 15 seconds or so that tick off after a tackle and before the 25 second play clock is put into motion by the ref. This approximate 40 seconds or so matches the collegiate and NFL paces.

Lamar faced second down with 1:19 on the clock, which was stopped, so in my mind at the time I figured there was little chance they'd have to snap it on 4th down, unless the refs sped up the usual pace. Sure enough, the second down run and subsequent 25 second clock took about 40 seconds total and the third down tackle was made with about 39 seconds on the clock. The refs got the ball set for fourth down, and white hat started the play clock at just about 24 secs on the game clock. Same pace as the rest of the game.

Generally, the only time you see true hustle in readying the ball for play, at any level, is as games are winding down and the team with the ball is hurrying to snap it because they are trying to get an important score near the end of the half or game.

Yes, Lamar is better players and better people. They have all of the qualities of character that players at Trinity are lacking. Vastly superior in athleticism, knowledge of the game, and moral integrity. From wholesome families that teach them all necessary life virtues. Is that what you're looking for?

Pretty much nailed it I think

STAMP IT

dude the game was over, it takes a certain amount of time to get the ball spotted correctly and signaled ready for play. Officials should do it the same every play. Not fair for Lamar if officials rush to try to give Trinity another opportunity.

Agree the game was over. That's what I'm driving at...

don't think it would have made a difference but they take to much time on the last ready for play, I was keeping track of it, the ball is supposed to be set in 4 to 6 sec, there should have been another play

I think we need to be careful judging all trinity people. Without a doubt Lamar is a class act but
lets not forget how they start football at a very young age, they are taught self discipline
on a football field. Some of Trinity's kids don't have the same advantages as a lot of the Lamar
kids do. Lamar is a tight community with tremendous support which lends itself to being held
to a high standard. Some Trinity kids are trying to make their way with little home support. It is
never okay to act wrong on a football field but it can be used to teach a young man self discipline
and how to handle adversity. Many adults at Trinity high school makes it their high priority
to teach kids that desperately need structure in their life's. So are Trinity people bad people absolutely no way many of them have huge challenges that many of us don't understand. Congrats to Lamar they are what a model program looks like and all programs want to be like. The example they set for the Trinity kids is a an awesome life lesson.

Absolutely! It upsets me to see any of these threads try to quantify Lamar's integrity to be something we use as a weapon. Regardless of who it is we play, our goal is to set an example that is helpful to all participants. I congratulate Trinity for having a damn fine football team and I doubt you will get anything different from any of the kids on the field. The whole reasoning is to compliment Football as a way to give kids an opportunity. It is what football is all about. I have watched countless professional athletes give speeches after they retire and football was their salvation. Let's all enjoy each other, argue with each other, sometimes even be dicks to each other, but let's never forget that it is something that can change a life. I hope that every Trinity player with college commitments, takes full advantage and excels to eventually be successful and then takes that and gives back to his community. God loves us all, and he gave us football.

I agree that we are absolutely blessed with a great town that backs up their team 110%. We also have a coaching staff that's top notch who lead by example. They would have never let the boys get away with some of the crap Trinity was pulling. I'm glad to hear the community is trying to set a good example, but if your coach let's them get away with the unsportsmanlike conduct that they've shown thru out the season then it will just continue to happen no matter how much the community tries. It starts at the top.

I agree it starts at the top. Don't ever forget Lamar kids get that an a early age and yes Lamar
coach would never put up with that because the kids come up knowing nothing else. Trinity
kids come from all over with different back grounds as well as the coaches. Should they hold
them to a high standard yes they should will they probably not because the coaches come and
go at a lot of these schools. Trinity has no history of being good so probably things where
probably over looked to try to win. Don't be surprised if their QB is playing for a good public
school next year as well as many of their other players. Not many good players stay and play
4 years at many of these school especially if they can play in a class 5 or 6 public school. Trinity
had the perfect storm this year got a couple of Transfer that went there with what they had.

Who knows what would've happened if the refs would have given Trinity the last possession they should have received based on time left on the game clock.
What would have happened if the refs didn't give trinity the ball near the 5 after the blown interception/fumble call, before trinity's last score? It evened out in my opinion.

That's what I saw. If trinity's players would've jumped up and got back on their side of the ball maybe the refs could've spotted it faster. They lingered on the pile and around the ball slow to get back out of the way when on defense all day. Too much pouting, not enough hustle.
